As a 501(c)(3) public charity, NationofChange has no owners and is accountable only to the public–you! Our tax EIN is 274496701.

How can I support your work?

Who actually runs the organization?

Our unpaid board of directors make all top-level organizational decisions. The NationofChange production staff comprises professional and passionate individuals who are paid an hourly salary to create the most effective daily newsletter editions. Our team includes former and current educators, marketing professionals, union organizers, activists, and consultants for independent media and nonprofit organizations.

What are the founders’ backgrounds?

Our founding members come from an eclectic set of backgrounds that include media, activism, publishing, education, marketing, and business. Each member of our board of directors and top-level team works on a strictly volunteer basis.

What other organizations or movements has NationofChange been involved with?

NationofChange has been involved to varying degrees with the Occupy movements, October 2011, US Uncut, the Tar Sands movement, and several other activist causes. Our team members have served on governing committees for various independent media organizations and also includes former and current educators, marketing professionals, union organizers, activists, and consultants for independent media and nonprofit organizations.

Why was NationofChange created?

Our founders saw a need for a progressive media organization that would bridge the gap between activism and journalism; NationofChange’s intention is to provide the professional presentation and infrastructure that will allow growth beyond what the independent media organizations have so far been able to achieve.

Where is NationofChange located?

Our organization is headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our team works remotely from several cities across the country in order to keep our organizational overheads low and to bring national coverage to current events as they happen.

Do you accept advertising?

In order to ensure our independence NationofChange accepts no corporate advertisement or financing of any kind. We feel so strongly about this that we put it into our own internal governing documents. NationofChange Bylaws, Section II reads: The organization may not accept any form of third-party advertising agreement wherein corporate-sponsored advertisements are placed alongside organizational content or materials. The organization may not enter into any agreements with third parties regarding the censorship, promotion, or distortion of any content.

I don’t like your emails asking for money. Can I still receive daily or weekly updates?

Yes. At the bottom of every newsletter is an option to update your email preferences. On that page you are able to choose the frequency at which you would like to receive our newsletters or choose to never receive a fundraising message. If you are a new subscriber you can choose not to receive fundraising emails when you first sign up for our newsletter.

No one is picking up my call. Why?

We are available to answer your calls from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Pacific time (11 a.m.-8 p.m. Eastern) Monday-Friday, excluding holidays. If you get our voicemail, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.

I don’t like entering my credit card information over the Internet. Is it safe?

Our donation pages are 100% secure. Your information is protected by the same Internet technology used by banks and other online merchants.

You don’t have to use your credit card online, we also have the option for you to donate over the phone, by check, or via PayPal. 

How will my donation be used?

NationofChange is funded entirely by contributions from our readers. There are no shareholders; all funds go towards paying our staff and writers and administrative costs associated with website development and hosting.

I can’t afford to make a monetary donation right now. How else can I help?
