Congress Does Not Care About the Middle Class

The rich usually get their payoff during non-election years, when no one is paying attention.  During those times, Congress only responded to the preferences and requests of the well-off.  To summarize: In election years we throw a few sops to the majority. During non-election years, we cut back on funding for those sops and pass the legislation that the top 10% want passed. Welcome to America.
