‘Fiscal Cliff’ Brings on Farm Bill Extension

The farm bill that was up for reauthorization in 2012 stalled in the House of Representatives when GOP leaders refused to bring it to vote. The recent “fiscal cliff” deal caused the farm bill to fall short and, instead, produced a “fast-and-dirty, stop-gap farm bill compromise.” Since this bill will be in place through September, Congress will have to start all over on a new five-year farm bill.
