“If September 11th was indeed a nightmare, 9/11 as a memorial and Ground Zero as a “consecrated” place have turned out to be a blank check for the American war state, funding an endless trip to hell.”

Let’s Cancel 9/11

Let’s bag it.

I’m talking about the tenth anniversary ceremonies for 9/11, and everything that goes with them: the solemn reading of the names of the dead, the tolling of bells, the honoring of first responders, the gathering of presidents, the dedication of the new memorial, the moments of silence.  The works.

Let’s just can it all.  Shut down Ground Zero.  Lock out the tourists.  Close “Reflecting Absence,” the memorial built in the “footprints” of the former towers with its grove of trees, giant pools, and multiple waterfalls before it can be unveiled this Sunday.  Discontinue work on the underground National September 11 Museum due to open in 2012.  Tear down the Freedom Tower (redubbed 1 World Trade Center after our “freedom” wars went awry), 102 stories of “the most expensive skyscraper ever constructed in the United States.” (Estimated price tag: $3.3 billion.)  Eliminate that still-being-constructed, hubris-filled 1,776 feet of building, planned in the heyday of George W. Bush and soaring into the Manhattan sky like a nyaah-nyaah invitation to future terrorists.  Dismantle the other three office towers being built there as part of an $11 billion government-sponsored construction program.  Let’s get rid of it all.   If we had wanted a memorial to 9/11, it would have been more appropriate to leave one of the giant shards of broken tower there untouched.

Ask yourself this: ten years into the post-9/11 era, haven't we had enough of ourselves?  If we have any respect for history or humanity or decency left, isn’t it time to rip the Band-Aid off the wound, to remove 9/11 from our collective consciousness?  No more invocations of those attacks to explain otherwise inexplicable wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and our oh-so-global war on terror.  No more invocations of 9/11 to keep the Pentagon and the national security state flooded with money.  No more invocations of 9/11 to justify every encroachment on liberty, every new step in the surveillance of Americans, every advance in pat-downs and wand-downs and strip downs that keeps fear high and the homeland security state afloat.

The attacks of September 11, 2001 were in every sense abusive, horrific acts.  And the saddest thing is that the victims of those suicidal monstrosities have been misused here ever since under the guise of pious remembrance.  This country has become dependent on the dead of 9/11 -- who have no way of defending themselves against how they have been used -- as an all-purpose explanation for our own goodness and the horrors we’ve visited on others, for the many towers-worth of dead in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere whose blood is on our hands.

Isn’t it finally time to go cold turkey?  To let go of the dead?  Why keep repeating our 9/11 mantra as if it were some kind of old-time religion, when we’ve proven that we, as a nation, can’t handle it -- and worse yet, that we don’t deserve it?

We would have been better off consigning our memories of 9/11 to oblivion, forgetting it all if only we could.  We can’t, of course.  But we could stop the anniversary remembrances.  We could stop invoking 9/11 in every imaginable way so many years later.  We could stop using it to make ourselves feel like a far better country than we are.  We could, in short, leave the dead in peace and take a good, hard look at ourselves, the living, in the nearest mirror.

Ceremonies of Hubris

Within 24 hours of the attacks of September 11, 2001, the first newspaper had already labeled the site in New York as “Ground Zero.”  If anyone needed a sign that we were about to run off the rails, as a misassessment of what had actually occurred that should have been enough.  Previously, the phrase “ground zero” had only one meaning: it was the spot where a nuclear explosion had occurred.

The facts of 9/11 are, in this sense, simple enough.  It was not a nuclear attack.  It was not apocalyptic.  The cloud of smoke where the towers stood was no mushroom cloud.  It was not potentially civilization ending.  It did not endanger the existence of our country -- or even of New York City.  Spectacular as it looked and staggering as the casualty figures were, the operation was hardly more technologically advanced than the failed attack on a single tower of the World Trade Center in 1993 by Islamists using a rented Ryder truck packed with explosives.

A second irreality went with the first.  Almost immediately, key Republicans like Senator John McCain, followed by George W. Bush, top figures in his administration, and soon after, in a drumbeat of agreement, the mainstream media declared that we were “at war.”  This was, Bush would say only three days after the attacks, "the first war of the twenty-first century."  Only problem: it wasn’t.  Despite the screaming headlines, Ground Zero wasn’t Pearl Harbor.  Al-Qaeda wasn’t Japan, nor was it Nazi Germany.  It wasn’t the Soviet Union.  It had no army, nor finances to speak of, and possessed no state (though it had the minimalist protection of a hapless government in Afghanistan, one of the most backward, poverty-stricken lands on the planet).

And yet -- another sign of where we were heading -- anyone who suggested that this wasn’t war, that it was a criminal act and some sort of international police action was in order, was simply laughed (or derided or insulted) out of the American room.  And so the empire prepared to strike back (just as Osama bin Laden hoped it would) in an apocalyptic, planet-wide “war” for domination that masqueraded as a war for survival.

In the meantime, the populace was mustered through repetitive, nationwide 9/11 rites emphasizing that we Americans were the greatest victims, greatest survivors, and greatest dominators on planet Earth.  It was in this cause that the dead of 9/11 were turned into potent recruiting agents for a revitalized American way of war.

From all this, in the brief mission-accomplished months after Kabul and then Baghdad fell, American hubris seemed to know no bounds -- and it was this moment, not 9/11 itself, from which the true inspiration for the gargantuan “Freedom Tower” and the then-billion-dollar project for a memorial on the site of the New York attacks would materialize.  It was this sense of hubris that those gargantuan projects were intended to memorialize.

On the tenth anniversary of 9/11, for an imperial power that is distinctly tattered, visibly in decline, teetering at the edge of financial disaster, and battered by never-ending wars, political paralysis, terrible economic times, disintegrating infrastructure, and weird weather, all of this should be simple and obvious.  That it’s not tells us much about the kind of shock therapy we still need.

Burying the Worst Urges in American Life

It’s commonplace, even today, to speak of Ground Zero as “hallowed ground.”  How untrue.  Ten years later, it is defiled ground and it’s we who have defiled it.  It could have been different.  The 9/11 attacks could have been like the Blitz in London in World War II.  Something to remember forever with grim pride, stiff upper lip and all.

And if it were only the reactions of those in New York City that we had to remember, both the dead and the living, the first responders and the last responders, the people who created impromptu memorials to the dead and message centers for the missing in Manhattan, we might recall 9/11 with similar pride.  Generally speaking, New Yorkers were respectful, heartfelt, thoughtful, and not vengeful.  They didn’t have prior plans that, on September 12, 2001, they were ready to rally those nearly 3,000 dead to support.  They weren’t prepared at the moment of the catastrophe to -- as Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld so classically said -- “Go massive. Sweep it all up. Things related and not.”

Unfortunately, they were not the measure of the moment.  As a result, the uses of 9/11 in the decade since have added up to a profile in cowardice, not courage, and if we let it be used that way in the next decade, we will go down in history as a nation of cowards.

There is little on this planet of the living more important, or more human, than the burial and remembrance of the dead.  Even Neanderthals buried their dead, possibly with flowers, and tens of thousands of years ago, the earliest humans, the Cro-Magnon, were already burying their dead elaborately, in one case in clothing onto which more than 3,000 ivory beads had been sewn, perhaps as objects of reverence and even remembrance.  Much of what we know of human prehistory and the earliest eras of our history comes from graves and tombs where the dead were provided for.

And surely it's our duty in this world of loss to remember the dead, those close to us and those more removed who mattered in our national or even planetary lives.  Many of those who loved and were close to the victims of 9/11 are undoubtedly attached to the yearly ceremonies that surround their deceased wives, husbands, lovers, children, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters.  For the nightmare of 9/11, they deserve a memorial.  But we don’t.

If September 11th was indeed a nightmare, 9/11 as a memorial and Ground Zero as a “consecrated” place have turned out to be a blank check for the American war state, funding an endless trip to hell.  They have helped lead us into fields of carnage that put the dead of 9/11 to shame.

Every dead person will, of course, be forgotten sooner or later, no matter how tightly we clasp their memories or what memorials we build.  In my mind, I have a private memorial to my own dead parents.  Whenever I leaf through my mother’s childhood photo album and recognize just about no one but her among all the faces, however, I'm also aware that there is no one left on this planet to ask about any of them.  And when I die, my little memorial to them will go with me.

This will be the fate, sooner or later, of everyone who, on September 11, 2001, was murdered in those buildings in New York, in that field in Pennsylvania, and in the Pentagon, as well as those who sacrificed their lives in rescue attempts, or may now be dying as a result.  Under such circumstances, who would not want to remember them all in a special way?

It’s a terrible thing to ask those still missing the dead of 9/11 to forgo the public spectacle that accompanies their memory, but worse is what we have: repeated solemn ceremonies to the ongoing health of the American war state and the wildest dreams of Osama bin Laden.

Memory is usually so important, but in this case we would have been better off with oblivion.  It’s time to truly inter not the dead, but the worst urges in American life since 9/11 and the ceremonies which, for a decade, have gone with them.  Better to bury all of that at sea with bin Laden and then mourn the dead, each in our own way, in silence and, above all, in peace.

Disgusting - people always want to blame the Jews.... when will antisemitism end? Those hijackers were Saudis not Jews. We invaded Iraq because we thought they had weapons of mass destruction and because Sadam was a jerk off. Bush made the best decisions he could with the info he had - period. You idiots could never and will never be privy to the intelligence data he was working from. You morons have no idea how many more 9/11's Bush saved us from by putting these terrorist where they belonged - in shallow graves. Any more shenanigans from any Saudis - and I say we pay them a visit NEXT! And it wouldn't be a bad idea to go ahead and deal with NORTH KOREA and IRAN now while their nuclear arsenals are infantile. Who has benefited from 9/11? THE SAUDI ELITE that's who! - $4 dollar a gallon gas is bullshit - I say we send some red necks over there and kick their ass and fill up our God Damn Ford F350's at a dollar thirty a gallon! What was most disgusting

What was most disgusting about the media's over-blown coverage of the 9-11 anniversary was seeing those criminal thugs like Bush and Rumsfeld... parading around.... pretending to offer sympathy. The Bush administration knew about the attacks BEFORE they took place, yet did nothing to protect the American people. Oh, they did have their own security enhanced.. but nothing for the people.
Every American who lost someone in 9-11.. and every first responder should sue these criminals for what they failed to do.
Al Qaida had their own reasons for doing what they did that day. What was the Bush administration's pathetic excuse for not protecting us???
When will these dirty criminals be brought to justice? How dare they be allowed to walk free?

What was sickening about all

What was sickening about all the over-blown 9-11 media coverage was the sight of those criminal thugs, Bush, Rumsfeld etc. walking around.. pretending to care....when THEY were the ones responsible for the tragedy. It is no secret that the Bush administration KNEW about the attacks.. and instead of protecting the American people..... made sure their own butts were protected.Al Qaida had a their own reasons for attacking us. What were the Bush Administration's reasons for NOT protecting us????

Thank you Tom for the

Thank you Tom for the article, and thanks also to Kevin Pryor and Maurice Cecchini for the thoughtful dissent in the comments. Invited remembrance for the sake of questioning and contemplation is a virtue. Forced remembrance as a means to exclude questioning and contemplation is evil.

The most amazing thing is

The most amazing thing is that people who have had 10 years to fact-check their drivel continue to post it. The towers did not fall at free fall. They took roughly twice as long. Video footage shows it. The seismographs show it. Still photos taken of these events show it.

I disagree OMRI, other then

I disagree OMRI, other then it being a shock to see them fall as they did I can say that in my opinion, due to the impact points in both towers the structual integrity of both structures was greatly damaged above each impact point, possibly around 78% damag, from what I see in each case of the full collapse the top sections of each tower came down first, the weight of both sections was eminence most likely in the high 10's of tons to the 100's of tons once the sections above the impact points dropped as they did it cased a sequence of continued collaspes of the entire tower in each case.
it was estimated that each tower came down in less then ten seconds unfortunately which is why some think it was done deliberately.

In my book no one would be that stupid in our country to try something so monsterious and expect to get away with it ..

You are lying when you say

You are lying when you say that the towers did not fall at free fall speed. NIST initially tried to cover up that fact, but eventually had to admit it.
Watch it here:

The video does show free fall.
"Twice as long" ha ha ha
"Still it" ha ha ha ha (Think about that lie for a second...STILL PHOTOS? Omri thinks we are brain dead. These are not the droids you are looking for, right Omri?)
Anyone who doubts freefall speed should look at a video of building 7 falling straight into its own footprint. Then compare that to a controlled demolition.
After comparing to controlled demolition, ask yourself if building 7 is taking "twice as long". It obviously is not, and anyone who asserts that is lying.
You can even see video of squibs, which are puffs of smoke showing timed explosions within the building.

Building 7 falls at the SAME SPEED as controlled demolition. Controlled Demolitions (CD) fall at free fall speed. It is impossible for a steel frame building to fall at free fall speed without CD because the steel columns have to disappear all at the SAME TIME. Only David Copperfield or Doug Henning could do that. Therefore, Building 7 was brought down by controlled demolition.

I agree about building 7,

I agree about building 7, considering it's status that is a issue that we may never get confirmation about, but putting that aside, even though OMRI is incorrect I don't feel this is a laughing matter right or wrong, a lot of good people died for no reason that day ..

B7 is most likely the only

B7 is most likely the only collapse that most likey was due to the way it was set up, that building was a secured site with agencies that I'm sure we will never know about, in fact it's most likely going to remain under the secrecy act.

The Twin Towers, as simple as it can be explained viewing the footage of each collapse the sections above the impact points are the first to collapse in both cases, consider another fact both sections most likely weighed in the 10 of tons to 100s of tons, due to the impacts there was a major loss of each of the sections structual iintegrity above the impact points which eventually leading to the top sections falling first thus causing the domino effect we all witnessed.
Each of those floors were one acre in size 290 sq ft X 290 sq ft once the top section dropped the rest collapsed in sequence.
The notice of a collapse that was mentioned publically was regarding B7

I spent 9/11 driving from

I spent 9/11 driving from Massachusetts back home to the Pittsburgh area. I normally listen to any NPR station I can find, but they, too, decided to go for wall-to-wall 9/11 coverage so I listened to an audio book instead. 9/11 itself was an historic day, but yesterday's commemoration was bigger than for any historic event I can think of. It was a few months of terrorists acting badly, and it's now been 10 years of many Americans acting badly (grabbing at money, expanding the military-industrial complex, constricting individual liberties, pillaging other countries...).

Thank you for the finest of the few good essays I've read on this topic.

Thank you Donna Davis for

Thank you Donna Davis for your courage to express your understanding, compassion, and love for all of us who are anguished with shame by how the leaders the USA, have used the tragically cruel acts of a few angry religious fanatics on 9/11 as the excuse to kill, maim, and torture thousands of Middle Eastern people. We know of the thousands of orphaned children who will never recover from their physical, mental, emotional injuries the US perpetrated in their villages and homes. I love you for speaking the truth from your unique position.

In spite of my pledge to

In spite of my pledge to abstain from watching any TV 9/11 ceremonies coverage, I must admit to having accidentally seen that preening asshole, George W. Bush and his little mouse, Laura at the commemorative ceremonies at Ground Zero on the 10:00 News. I remember thinking, “Who the hell invited them?” If any of the grieving family members objected to this insult, there was no report of it. The converse of Lincoln’s words from his Gettysburg Address occurred to me: George W. Bush’s blood-stained presence at Ground Zero has desecrated that ground far above the poor power of any enemy, any terrorist to add or detract.

Right you are, sir. As a New Yorker, I feel that this vast exploitation of a criminal act is repugnant. As an American, I am ashamed of the hype, as well as the phony piety and hideous world-wide militarism it has engendered. Many here have said it better than I have, but I just wanted to put in a word of appreciation. I am so glad it is over for another year, maybe 10 years. Let it be over! Perhaps labeling it what it is, mental masturbation, will create the desired effect!

A 10 minute's silent

A 10 minute's silent meditation and prayer would have been more appropriate if we as a nation wanted to honor the lost and the injured, including Ms Borders. But that doesn't bring in the bucks. The winners are the speech-makers and the media who will be selling the dvds, books and tickets to future memorial sites.

Yes - absolutely agree with

Yes - absolutely agree with Dennis W! It's time to move on. Every American alive will always remember 9/11 and what they were doing that day. If we continue to memorialize the horrific tradgedy then why have we lost sight on our previous involvements: Vietnam, Korea, Gulf War, WWII, WWI? Is it only the fact that 9/11 happened on our US soil? How can we forget what the other wars have cost us as a people?

My son lost his sight and his

My son lost his sight and his brain will never quite be right again in so many ways when our government shamelessly used 9/11 as an excuse to bomb, burn and destroy every man, woman and child in the Middle East. Before you condemn that statement, talk to a Christian or Mormon who believe that the Middle Eastern nations are the anti-Christ and must be destroyed for the rapchure to happen.I think the way we've glorified 9/11 and its victims is disgusting and hugely embarrassing. As I've said before, just what makes us so special that the loss of 3,000 American lives at once gives us cart blanch to take revenge on an entire race of people? It is what it is, an excuse for the desecrating of our own country in too many ways to list here, the major one to use it for all-out war profiteering and corporate insanity.

I am not unsympathetic to the

I am not unsympathetic to the loss that is felt, but it seems to me that if we spent 1/2 as much time, energy, money, and dare I say thought on the living, perhaps the world can be recreated, feed the poor(not just in America).
Compared to the amount spent on war, the dedications, the monuments, and the glorification of war.

I am, in fact, unsympathetic

I am, in fact, unsympathetic to the "loss that is felt" by those far from the victims of the destruction of these buildings (I do sympathize profoundly with the families of those who died there, notwithstanding our unwillingness to discover at whose hand and with the families of the million or so Iraqis, the Afghans, the Pakistanis, the Libyans, and everyone else onto whom we have leashed an unremitting war of terror, because we have had to blame just about everyone [absent any willingness, again, to discover who really did it] and kill, kill, kill in the most American of responses) but who parade their "sorrow" for financial and political gain. The scenes this weekend of the most inane and self-indulgent group masturbatory exercises are sickening when one considers the real dynamics of the world that we have made for today. I have yet to hear one public official or religious leader mourn the loss of those who have been killed and are being killed in consequence of our vindictiveness (usually thanking Jesus for all of it!) and our profoundly held belief that, as the Baptist preacher's wife put it, "Ten of them aren't worth one of us!" The real atrocity is the permanent state of war against the world and the inability of people in the US, including Bush and his philosophical and political soul-mate and successor, to address the hatred that exists in the world except by more killing, terror as a way of life that defines the worldview of US people.

The thing that gets me is,

The thing that gets me is, that we give such homage and glory to war and the dead, we will spend millions on dedication and monuments, yet we disregard the those still here, ( not just Americans) that are struggling to live or even eat, if we put 1/2 the same money, time, energy, or dare I say thought into helping the living what a world we can create.

I like many am glad to hear

I like many am glad to hear that there is a counter opinion on this whole 9/11 memorial than we get the major media.

As Stephano points out in his posting, however, the pain of the event no doubt still lingers. That is why I am proud to participate in an event that focuses not on the pain that lingers under the band-aid, but on healing.

It is "Jubilee Country Fair" scheduled for 9/11 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. We will hold an interfaith service with reading from Hebrew Scripture and the Koran. After the service, we will hold an outdoor fall fair featuring groups and institutions that are dedicated to healing: the homeless, victim of spousal abuse, and of our children. See

I invite others to look in your community and not ignore the pain, but to heal.

Never before or since 9/11

Never before or since 9/11 has any steel frame skyscraper fallen due to fire. On 9/11 THREE of them fell. At free-fall speed. That's over one hundred years of steel frame skyscrapers. Over 1,500 professional architects and engineers say that it is IMPOSSIBLE for steel frame buildings to fall at free-fall speed without CONTROLLED DEMOLITION.

WTC Building 7 was not hit by a plane, but this 47 story building fell at free-fall speed on the afternoon of 9/11 supposedly due to fire. Although this had never happened before 9/11, the collapse was known beforehand by Mayor Giuliani, and was ANNOUNCED BEFOREHAND by the BBC.

Numerous government terrorist drills were operating on 9/11. Vigilant Guardian was a NORAD exercise that involved numerous terrorist hijackings of passenger jets. Operation Northern Vigilance was a military operation that deployed fighters to Alaska and Northern Canada to monitor a Russian air force exercise in the Russian Arctic and North Pacific Ocean, far away from NY and DC. FEMA was coincidentally in NY BEFORE and during 9/11 practicing a drill involving a biological-terrorism attack call "Tripod".

One noteworthy exercise scheduled on 9/11 was to take place at the headquarters of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) in Chantilly, Virginia, four miles away from Washington Dulles International Airport and 24 miles from the Pentagon. A simulated jet was to take off at 9:30 a.m. from Dulles Airport and then crash into the NRO at 9:32. Coincidentally, flight 77 took off from Dulles and then crashed into the pentagon at 9:37. What bad luck!

An article about a US Army School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) report appeared in the Washington Times on September 10, 2001. The report referred to israel’s armed forces as a “500-pound gorilla in srael” that is “well armed and trained” and is “known to disregard international law to accomplish mission.” Of the Mossad, the report says: “Wildcard. Ruthless and cunning. Has capability to target US forces and make it look like a Palestinian/Arab act.”

On 9/11, 5 israeli citizens working for the New Jersey-based Urban Moving Systems company were arrested after they were seen videotaping the attacks and celebrating. The FBI concluded that at least 2 of them were mossad agents. When their van was stopped, bomb-sniffing dogs reacted as if they had detected explosives. 3 israelis were also detained on 9/11 in Plymouth, Pennsylvania. A search of their truck turned up detailed video footage of the Sears Towers.

A highly detailed DEA report documented 180 CASE of Israeli art students infiltrating DEA facilities in the months before 9/11. Five of the so-called Israeli Art Students that weren't really art students, had been living at 4220 Sheridan St in Hollywood, Florida. Coincidentally, Mohammed Atta, lived at 3389 Sheridan St, only a few blocks away from the Fake Israeli Art Students! There were 60 Israeli citizens who were picked up in the post- Sept. 11 sweep, many of whom, if not all of whom, are connected to Israeli intelligence.

The towers were finished in '72-3, and were owned by by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey up until 6 WEEKS before 9/11, when the towers were sold to Larry Silverstein. Silverstin made $4.5 billion from insurance after owning the towers for 6 weeks. What a lucky guy! Every morning after the deal was finalized, Mr. Silverstein held breakfast meetings at Windows on the World at 8:30 am, but luckily he had to go to a doctor's appointment on 9/11. Two of his children were also supposed to meet at the WTC, but luckily they were running late that morning. All 170 people who were working and eating in Windows of the world died on 9/11.

Zim Shipping, an israeli company, broke its lease to move out of the World Trade Center just one week before the attacks. Odigo Instant Messaging service, an israeli company, received a warning two hours before the attacks on 9/11.

After noting all of these Strange Coincidences, I think it would be premature to forget about 9/11. We should rather INVESTIGATE WHAT REALLY HAPPENED on 9/11!

Building 7 is the only

Building 7 is the only exception when it comes to the question of the mystery of the collaspe of an all steel building, B7 I supect was one of the highest intelligence based buildings located in NYC, and I am sure it was also equipted with a fail-safe senerio that couldn't be reversed.I don't think there was anything that could be done in that sites behalf and to be honest I also believe it falls under the secrecy act to the highest order. In respect to the Twin Towers there is an issue that should be looked into because something odd did happen before the attacks on 9/11, as to the claim that it's collapse was staged, from what I see the areas above the impact points in both buildings where the first to drop down thus casing the domino effect we all witnessed that day.I'm not an expert in this matter but if you used basic common sense both of the sections must have weighted in hundreds of tons, once their supports could no longer be maintained all that is left for them to do is too collapse as they did.

Please forgive the double posting I don't understand how but I noticed there is another copy of my remark at the main posting area hopefully this one will be recieved by your section ..

Total nonsense, the kind of

Total nonsense, the kind of self-serving, orgasmic and even anti-Semetic paranoia that demonstrates indifference to the article and serves merely to distract us from its awful truth.

I just laid out a bunch of

I just laid out a bunch of facts about 9/11. Which of them is incorrect? If none of them are incorrect, then how are they nonsense? If someone protests against israeli terror, does that make them anti-semitic? Are we then prohibited from protesting against israel?

It is unfortunate that some people get stuck into playing the victim card, that they cannot recognize when they themselves have become the aggressors.

I don't understand what was "orgasmic" about my comment. Perhaps this word does not mean what you think it means. My problem with the article was that it was saying that we should forget about 9/11, when the facts plainly show that 9/11 was never properly investigated.

Steel frame buildings don't collapse due to fire. It is impossible, and it never happened before or since 9/11. You would think that the first ever steel frame building collapse would call for an investigation. In fact, Federal law demands that such collapses, and especially where explosions are witnessed, be thoroughly investigated for arson; i.e. test for accelerants and explosives. After 9/11, the evidence was taken away and melted down. Not only was the WTC collapse not properly investigated, but that obfuscation was in violation of the law. Coincidence.

Beyond the evidence showing israeli involvement and foreknowledge, we have had a series of wars that just happen to be fought against the enemies of israel. Another coincidence. But I suppose that is anti-semitic to point that out. It is probably anti-semitic to remind people that israel has attacked the US twice before in false flag operations: the USS Liberty and the Lavon affair. Coincidence.

It would be very easy to disprove what I have been saying. All the government would need to do is release the serial numbers of the engine parts and other wreckage from the crash sites. The serial numbers can be matched to the list of parts that is kept for every commercial airliner. That is what the NTSB always does, and always has done. Except on 9/11. The government refuses to release even the serial numbers from the black boxes allegedly recovered from fl 77 and 93. How many coincidences are we up to now?

This conspiracy theory is a long way from my truth, but of course, the truth is whatever you choose to believe, but you're not entitled to your own facts. William Shakespeare could have written such a contrived plot...

It is the tenth aniversary

It is the tenth aniversary and we can expect some remembering, but I agree our reaction has been largely self-indulgent. Thousands of people died that day and they never got much respect. It's all been about just about everything else but those who died that day. They are true unsung heros. They went to work to support themselves and their families. They were involved in honest, valuable, and productive work. They died through no fault of their own, but that shows how life can be vulnerable. We should get over ourselves, yes, but also get around to honoring the loss of these people.

Yes, absolutely!! This has been self-indulgence long enough. Ostrich Hill

Yes, I agree with the writer

Yes, I agree with the writer but only after bringing to justice Bush, Cheny, Condi, CIA, FBI for their failure to stop 911 and save public life. They all should be put on trial to find the truth behind 911. I do not understand why 911 family collectively or a group of human right lawyers not suing all the politicians and public officials in power on 911 for their collective failure to save our life. We will not forget 911 but not allow Government to use it to punish ordinary citizens more and help so called defense [ basically offense industry] industry make money by death and destruction around the world.fs

On Sept. 13,2001 I posted an article asking the tough question, why were we attacked and was 911 a cold dish of street justice that was long overdue? One response to that article was that I was thrown out of the Libertarian Party. Some of the things e have found out since then is that is the we were dropping daisy cutters in theatre in April of 2001. We already knew that we were financing the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan, which was basically declaring war on the Taliban for oil. We also knew that by 2001 that over 30,000 American troops had died from complications associated with the exposure of radiological munitions in Gulf War I. My chief concern, were we pointing our guns in the right direction or should we be pointing them at our own government. My assessment of the situation has not changed in the last 10 years. Now we are involved in another war in the pursuit of oil. I guess we will have to go bankrupt before it gets fixed. These wars will not end without a bloody revolution.
