NRA ‘Enabler Of Death’

Bill Moyers

PBS' Bill Moyers placed partial blame for the murders in the NRA's lap in a web video posted over the weekend, calling it "the best friend a killer's instinct ever had."

PBS' Bill Moyers had blistering words for the National Rifle Association in the wake of the deadly shootings in Colorado.

Moyers placed partial blame for the murders in the NRA's lap in a web video posted over the weekend, calling it "the best friend a killer's instinct ever had."

He said that the lobbying of the NRA had made it easier for people like James Holmes, the alleged killer in the Colorado shootings, to obtain their weapons.

"Every year there are 30,000 gun deaths and 300,000 gun-related assaults in the U.S.," he said. "Firearm violence may cost our country as much as $100 billion a year. Toys are regulated with greater care and safety concerns than guns ... we have become so gun loving, so blasé about home-grown violence that in my lifetime alone, far more Americans have been casualties of domestic gunfire than have died in all our wars combined."

He finished by calling the NRA "the enabler of death -- paranoid, delusional, and as venomous as a scorpion."

Though they did not express themselves with quite his vehemence, Moyers is one of several to call for stricter gun control laws in the days after the shootings.

I,m reminded of the comment

I,m reminded of the comment made by the French Newspaper La Liberté during Hoovers Presidency, "Americans are the only race which passed from Barbarism to Decadence without knowing Civilisation "sic.

"Enabler of mass murder" is

"Enabler of mass murder" is more to the point than "enabler of death".

When are people going to

When are people going to realize that the NRA is not a defender of the Constitution. They really just hide behind the Constitution to make sure there is a market for guns. They really represent gun manufacturers.
What a shame that all this carnage happens because gun manufacturers want to flood us with their deadly product.

There is NO compelling reason

There is NO compelling reason for anyone except law enforcement and the military to have 'assault type rifles' nor the 30 round magazines being sold for them!!!! They ARE NOT a suitable hunting weapon.... The caliber is too small and the bullet travels too fast to be effective in brush..... The ONLY REASON they are produced is to KILL PEOPLE!!!! Also; They are too expensive to use to target shoot for most people since they can fire hundreds of rounds per minute at about 10 cents each!!!!!

I love Bill but he is so

I love Bill but he is so wrong on this issue. Lets put this in perspective, Viox alone claimed OVER 60,000 lives before the USDA (who cares for us so deeply) had it taken off the market. That is just one drug that is/was out there killing and making money for the big pharmas. Statin drugs are killing many people too, but it will be years before they take that off the market. How many people are even aware of this?
Guns don't kill people, people do. I was at a little county fair this summer, and there was an Army tent set up. I went inside and saw numerous young boys (7-12) on computers playing violent video games. Some of them their feet didn't touch the floor while they 'played'. No parents in the tent, must have thought it a 'safe' place with a sergeant standing outside the tent while they walked around. You think they aren't being programmed to violence in every direction they can get our children at, and as early as possible. We all know it is in the movies, videos, music, TV, high school ROTC, but a county fair to worry about now too.
We couldn't get the military programs out of our high school when we tried to cut items for the budget, it was off limits! WHY?
Do you realize these Veterans Day assemblies across our schools are glorifying these people who naively go and kill, thinking they are keeping us free. Young minds seeing these strong handsome men in uniform-while we give praise to them and what they did. So easy for young minds seeing this to want to get that kind of praise and gloy. I say show them pictures of the dead instead. Show them pictures of the deformed babies coming out of all these countries because of our use of depleated uranium in our weapons. Show them the statistics of our own guys coming back sterile and limbless. America drops bombs and deploys drones killing innocent people at the drop of a hat. That is the America of today. Why are we surprised our children react with violence.
But it is what they are doing to our minds without us knowing it,that if terrifying, read the book 'Mass Control: Engineering Human Consciousness. You won't be able to put it down, well researched.
We will see more staged and unstaged multiple deaths filling the news until they can win enough of the people over for legislation to pass in order to confiscate. We knew it was on O's agenda to do this,he stated so, and now with a second term allows him time. Pray and stand strong to your beliefs. I don't own a gun, but for those who do please make them pry them from your hands, I stand with you. You make this country safer in ways than most know.
The corporations with an agenda are the ones causing people to go off killing. Don't think for a moment, if it isn't guns it will be something else, people are very inventive.

BCBOSSARTE, The guy who

BCBOSSARTE, The guy who slaughtered the kids at Sandy Hook owned guns. Would you have told "him" a week ago that "you make this country safer in ways than most know?" That's what you're saying to the "next" madman out there. And it was "never" on "O's" agenda to confiscate. Gun laws are more lax now than under any President in the last 50 years. Extremely bizarre and faulty reasoning.

We can't put all the blame on

We can't put all the blame on the NRA. Even if we outlawed guns entirely, it would do no more to keep guns out of people's hands than outlawing drugs has kept drugs out of people's hands. The REAL, pressing, issue we have to address is why there is such a high demand for guns in the U.S. and why so many people are possessed of a murderous rage. See:

While restricting gun sales

While restricting gun sales and banning specific kinds of weapons will not assure an end to the kind of tragedy that took place this weekend it is definitely a step in the right direction. Vaccines do not prevent every living human from getting the disease they are intended to protect against but we still use them and they still save lives.

If a ban on a particular weapon prevented one massacre of American citizens it would be worth having. If a required background check at a gun show denied a weapon to one lunatic it would be worthwhile.

7 Compelling Reasons Why You Should Support NationofChange

Our readers often tell us why they’ve decided to step up and become supporters. Here are some of the top reasons people are giving.

1. You’re keeping independent journalism alive
The corporate owned media has proven that it can’t be trusted. In a media landscape wrought with spin and corruption, NationofChange stands in very scarce company.

2. You’re sticking it to the rich, powerful, and corrupt
When you have money in this country you can get away with damn near anything, and they do. NationofChange isn’t afraid to expose these criminals no matter how powerful they are.

3. Your donation is 100% tax-deductible
NationofChange is a 501(c)3 charity. People tend to assume that many other organizations are (most nonprofits are NOT) but it’s that 501(c)3 status is a bit more rare than you think.
