Taking a stand against the agricultural takeover of the United States and worldwide, a group of Occupy DC members began to protest outside the offices of Monsanto. Taking part in an attempt to help raise awareness over the atrocities committed by mega corporations like Monsanto, Occupy members as far away as Portland helped to organize the national protest. In the call to action statement provided by Occupy Portland, the movement stated that the protest was to highlight the fact that “corporations buy off legislators and craft legislation that serves the interests of corporations and not people.” According to Occupy DC, about 12 members were arrested.

Protesters were told by D.C. police officers to remove themselves from the Monsanto office, where they formed a line around the building. One police officer, William Farr, said that around 50 protesters gathered around the building. Police threatened protesters with arrest if they did not move away from the doors, and 12 were ultimately arrested. According to the report, 10 were arrested for ‘blocking the entrance’ and 2 were arrested for crossing a police line. One of the individuals arrested was an American University student doing a report on police brutality.

During their protest at Monsanto corporation, protesters chanted things like ”Monsanto and ALEC, corporations are making us sick.” Protesters were even quoted as saying that Monsanto ”is doing more to make a sustainable world impossible than almost any corporation on the planet.”

Monsanto was declared worst company of 2011 for their numerous acts against nature and public health. In addition to running slave rings and controlling U.S. diplomats behind the scenes to push their agenda, Monsanto is also ensuring that you have no idea whether or not you are eating their genetically modified foods. Squashing labeling initiatives all over the nation through admitted influence, Monsanto wants to make sure you’re in the dark about their latest GMO creations.

There is something badly

There is something badly wrong with the system when what is probably the evilest organisation on the planet gets protected by the law and those protesting against it get arrested. Monsanto is as close to living crime against humanity as it gets yet they are protected by the law. That organic farmers who clearly do not want to grow GM crops have to pay Monsanto if their crops are contaminated shows the complete idiocy of the law. What has gone wrong in America that has allowed this to occur. Who is the law supposed to protect if not the American people?

Monsanto (and the like) and

Monsanto (and the like) and all of the corrupt politicans should know by now, you can't put the Jeannie back in the bottle. Hey Monsanto and all of the corrupt politicans and nations you've been in bed with, the cat is out of the bag. We know what you've done and you've been doing to us. The word is out. You can spend all the $$$ you want to try to put the Jeannie back in the bottle, but it is too late. Too many of us know about you. Get it???

Americans need to awaken to

Americans need to awaken to the reality that those armed guys in blue uniforms are NOT legitimate officers of the law, following their sworn oaths to uphold the constitution, and ONLY those laws consistent with the constitution. They are a traitorous mercenary force owned by corrupt corporations and the equally corrupt, and equally treasonous politicians. Honest police officers deserve our respect and our support. These others deserve to be dealt with as the invading force they actually are - THIS is why our Founding Fathers gave us the 2nd Amendment!

Of course the protestors will

Of course the protestors will be arrested. What they are doing is illegal. What Monsanto is doing - causing organ damage, mutations in insects (so far), is completely within the law - ask the judge they bought their verdict from. Its a shame Bill Gates is a mushroom in this instance.

Reading labels on

Reading labels on food-products shows that most contain also corn-syrup. Most likely from Monsanto corn. Vegetable oil contains often also corn-oil. So most of our food is already Monsanto-invested. Most people don’t have (or take) the time to read labels. Look at the many flabby- over-weighted-people nowadays… more of the Monsanto-effect; plus from the chemicals in our meats and poultry.
Thanks to Monsanto public health is going down; so healthcare-expenses are going up.
The low- and no-income people have no choice. So the poor if they eat seem often overweight , giving the false impression of being well-fed.

Let's not forget, along with

Let's not forget, along with corn, the most common GMO crops are canola, for vegetable oil and hydrogenated shortening, and soybeans, mostly for animal feed. Both of these make their way into our food supply, and, as Marie says, contribute to the obesity that is more prevalent the lower one's income goes (it's easy to say "Well, she's not missing any meals", but the cheap, available foods promote obesity).

While obesity contributes to many of the most expensive health problems in America, Marie, I must disagree that it's a factor in the US's huge health care overspending over other nations, who substitute smoking for the obesity the US suffers. Health care's overpriced, across-the-board cost overruns are the reason healthcare costs in the US are so much higher than anywhere else in the world, and our diets are only one reason our outcomes are far from the best.

that is so true and of course

that is so true and of course since healthy food choices and their price seems to keep going up and up then those of us without a healthy bank account also cant be healthy

Thank you for posting this

Thank you for posting this Anthony. This is the most important issue to anyone living in the world today. Why? Because it is about the food we eat. Without food, we die. With the wrong food, we could more than likely prematurely die.

Why is it that no one gets it that farmers are the most important people on this planet? For governments that are funded by (and sometimes just outright steal) the money of its citizens to just sit around and let a bogus corporation like Monsanto tell it what is good for the citizens is ludicrous and tyrannical. But the good ol' media is oblivious (probably paid off) in not reporting such atrocities. It takes real reporters such as Mr. Gucciardi to stand up and put this out there for the world to read.

you were right about the

you were right about the buying off and since only 6 mega corps own all of the mainstream media their is no way to know the truth exempt for people like mr guddicardi that take the time to educate others and our voice does count why do you think that the '1%' are so afraid of us its because our voice can dominate since by sheer numbers we outclass them

Thanks for the article

I just learned that the Gates

I just learned that the Gates Foundation has donated $27 million to Monsanto GMO's to alleviate hunger in Africa. They have also invested $500,000 into the company.

and this with the knowledge

and this with the knowledge that they are not sending good food bill gates is just aware as you and i and the reporter the true nature behing monsanto so his act of charity takes on a whole different perspective since he knows firsthand the dangers inherant in the monsanto process shame on him and shame on them for trying to buy consumer confidence with a show of 'charity' maybe their idea of charity is to give starving people food not fit for consumption me i call it murder
