Punk Band Pussy Riot’s Appeal Against Hooliganism Conviction Rejected in Russia

Heard by Moscow City Court, Pussy Riot’s appeal against their hooliganism conviction was upheld last week. The band, who sang a “punk prayer” in the Moscow’s main cathedral, was in protest of Vladimir Putin’s election for a third term. The performance was labeled offensive and was said to have disturbed the peace.
