Some are finding the news that many Republicans are not backing 55 billion dollar spending reduction to the military budget surprising. How one finds this surprising is some what confusing. Republicans have always been opposed to social spending, not defense spending. If it was a 55 billion dollar reduction to social spending we would see a lot more Republicans backing it.
