Stealth GMOs Rapidly Consuming Global Food Supply

Obviously there is no room for GMOs in truly healthy food products, which is why it is truly vital that you understand the nature of GMOs and how they are oftentimes hidden in commercial food products. It may very well shock you to know just how prevalent GMOs are within the food supply. It’s truly amazing that modified products continue to go unlabeled despite being linked to organ damage — among a barrage of other conditions — in a prominent review of 19 studies.

In fact, nearly 93-95% of US soybeans are genetically modified in order to resist powerful weed-killers that were found to be killing the actual soybeans as well as the weeds. Following current trends, genetically modified food products will makeup the majority of the future food supply if a change is not made. For now, that change has been shot down by the FDA — the very organization tasked to defend public health. Just recently, the agency deleted around 1 million signatures from the GMO labeling campaign ‘Just Label It.’

This move means that consumers will continue to stay in the dark about whether or not what they’re eating is compromised of genetically modified ingredients. And it’s not just corn and soybeans, other commonly modified food staples include:

  • Corn
  • Cotton
  • Soy
  • Sweet corn
  • Hawaiian Papaya
  • Rice
  • Potatoes

Statistics show how GMO crops and ingredients have skyrocketed in even the past few years. Here are statistics as of 2009-2010:

  • Genetically modified soybeans currently make up for 93-95% of the US soybean supply.

  • Genetically modified corn currently makes up for 86% of the US corn supply.

  • Genetically modified cotton currently makes up for 93% of the US cotton supply.

  • Genetically modified canola currently makes up for 93% of the soybean supply.

  • Genetically modified Hawaiin papaya currently makes up for 93% of the Hawaiian papaya supply.

When viewing these statistics, it is easy to see how many consumers are being tricked into consuming genetically modified foods. Amazingly, in a poll conducted by ABC, more than 93% of Americans feel that products containing GMOs should be labeled – meanwhile, these individuals are actually unknowingly consuming GMOs on a daily basis. What it comes down to is that as long as the threat is not visible, many consumers will simply purchase commercial products without thinking about the consequences. This is exactly why Monsanto and others have been squelching attempts to label products that contain GMOs.

Yes, if GM food has so many

Yes, if GM food has so many advantages, it would be cheaper, and so forth. Let us know the foods that contain GMO's. It's not possible to know all the changes to genes that happen to a plant when you start chemically snipping and inserting genes, but perhaps these foods are wholesome and good. Just let us know.

The bigger problems with GM crops are their effects on industrial agriculture. The amounts of pesticide, herbicide, and fertilizer that are needed for optimal growth of these "high tech" plants is a danger to the groundwater and surface water that it contaminates. Soil microflora, essential to plant life, are killed. Family farmers, unable to afford the capitalization necessary for fuel, chemicals, seed, and mechanization, must sell or be forclosed on to mega-farms which have hundreds of acres of monocultured soybeans or corn, where insects are absent, birds and butterflies have nothing to eat, and there's no place for wildflowers to grow along the fenceline. This promotes pesticide and herbicide tolerance, disease outbreaks, and these are only some of the efficiencies of GM food crops.

As Confusus once say: "It

As Confusus once say: "It unwise to fool with mother nature because mother nature always get her way". Which she will. It's just the needless senseless dumbshit in the interim that sucks.

It's one thing to cross

It's one thing to cross pollinate different plants.....Quite another to use genetic material from other species which doesn't happen in nature.

NORMAN: You do understand if

NORMAN:
You do understand if your argument were valid, we'd still have lead in gasoline, right?

Your same logic used here:

"Man has been introducing lead into gasoline for ages. It's just an efficient way to increase the quality of gasoline. . . ."

"Man has been introducing

"Man has been introducing lead into gasoline for ages. It's just an efficient way to increase the quality of gasoline. . . ."

more apropos

- It's just an efficient way to increase the efficiency of the internal combustion engine . . ."

Genetic variation through

Genetic variation through hybridization and plant breeding is one thing but the GMO plants have been modified by inserting genetic material from other organisms. Corn has been given a gene from the Bacillus thuringiensis bacteruim so that it can produce it's own bt toxin as an insecticide against rootworms. Now the insecticide is in the corn and we eat it instead of being able to wash it off. Rootworms are becoming resistant to the bt corn. What new toxic plan does the industry have for our food, in the name of efficiency of course?

Until they tell us what we

Until they tell us what we are eating, we won't eat corn, soy, canola, papaya. (I stopped eating cotton after watching Catch 22 years ago.)

Time to petition the FDA again. This is so ridiculous that Monsanto sued Ben and Jerry's to not label their ice cream as not having milk from cows fed growth hormones, and Monsanto won.

What's the difference in this and Rush Limbaugh calling our sisters and daughters whores and sluts? Boycott the users of Monsanto products. That would include anything with corn products like high fructose corn syrup.

Is the GMO ethanol going to hurt my car? I need to know.

Apparently you are not

Apparently you are not effected by this yet. Or you just don't realize what it is doing to you. Since there has been GM corn I can no longer eat corn or any corn by products. No drinks sweetened by high fructose corn syrup, no Fritos , Tostado's, corn chips, corn bread, Corn Chex, polenta, and hundreds of other products. I get severe joint pain from Corn. No OTC drugs will control the pain. I can't sleep, it hurts to even move. And since I am also intolerant to most pain killers, they knock me out cold, scramble my brain to just name a couple. I just avoid corn and corn products. Soy products make me feel ill. I don't eat white potatoes. Man has experimented with his food by cross pollination. We have many great products as the result. This is actual chemicals injected into the cells of the plant. It has resulted in super weeds that are resistant to all chemical control. They also ruin the soil structure so that other crops don't grow either. Many of these chemicals are killing the honey bees. No bees, no food. Unless you want to walk up and down miles of fields pollinating all the plants with a tiny brush.

Fear mongers. Plain and

Fear mongers. Plain and simple. Man has been introducing genetic variation into food crops forever and GM food is just a recent and efficient way to do it.Back off!

and you know nothing of

and you know nothing of evolution or genetics

This isn't the same as

This isn't the same as Mendel's experiments with peas. This isn't grafting apple branches to make improved apples. This is modifying the core genetic material with something totally alien. The result might resemble corn or soy but also might resemble fish, barbed wire, or alien slime. The whole point is that it be labeled, then you can enjoy to your hearts content, or avoid it.
