Syrian Forces Continue Violence Despite Ceasefire
The Syrian city of Homs was shelled, killing several people overnight. The UN-backed ceasefire has failed to stop Syria in its path of destruction. Russian and China have used their veto power twice to block tougher sanctions by the council against the Syrian government. Both countries back the peace plan that is going nowhere. Annan has urged the council to call on Assad to implement all portions of his six-point peace plan that has nominally been accepted by the government and parts of the opposition.
