We must confront those corporate media forces while vastly strengthening independent progressive media work of all kinds.

The American left, using all the platforms available to it, will have to push back against the attacks that are sure to come against Sanders and other progressives in the race, whose coverage is likely to vary between slinging mud at them and ignoring them.

What’s more, the presence of volunteers draws more people to support the campaign and demonstrates that there is a place for them to fully engage.

My best advice to you who support Bernie, Tulsi or Liz is that you get them to join together. This is the only way to guarantee a progressive candidate in 2020 and a strong group to oppose Trump.

This year, Sanders needs to make it clear that if he doesn’t get the nomination, he’ll either sit the election out, or consider a third-party run.
