The justice department is pointing the finger at BP PLC for the massive 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, perporting in new court papers examples of what it calls "gross negligence and willful misconduct".  This current court filing is the strongest position yet taken by the government to hold the British oil giant largely responsible for the largest spill and environmental disaster, in US history.
