US Senate Scrutinized After Remarks About Rape
The six-term congressman is the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate. He was asked in an interview Sunday on KTVI-TV if he would support abortions for women who were raped, and Akin said that a woman "has ways" to prevent pregnancies in what he calls "legitimate rape." Later on Sunday, Akin claims that he "misspoke" during the interview. Although he was scheduled to speak on KMOX Radio with host Charlie Brennan Monday morning, Atkin cancelled.
