Chinese state media says Gu confessed to intentional murder, which the penalty could range from 10 years in prison to death. Some  analysts believe the Communist Party leaders may decide against a death penalty, fearing it could incite public sympathy for her.  A viable option is a suspended death sentence that can be commuted to a longer prison term.  Even after the verdict is announced, questions will remain over the fate of Bo Xilai.
