I do not advocate violence either, but if I comment that I can hear safeties clicking off I'm treated as though I am a spawn of Satan. After living in CO, UT, ID, MT, UT, AZ & AK I realize that sooner or later the 99% will be reaching for their favorites, while the government of the 1% seriously believes that its military of our children will mow us down in droves for them.

I would love to see OWS focus on a National Referendum that called for the creation of a publically funded campaign system, at every level of government. This campaign would culminate in ballot measures in every state to pass a new constitutional amendment. Take the decision out of the hands of the supreme court, who are in reality just spokespeople for the power elite. Can you imagine the energy and value of a truly democratic movement that captivates the imagination of the 99% in a national process to take money out of our political campaign system ! This has the potential to be a real game changer. For the first time ever, the U.S. could begin to see what a particaptory democracy looks like.

Theoretically, it's simple. Pass a new constitutional amendment that overrides the decision. Although I detect that corruption of politicians disturbs both the right and the left, it may be very difficult to win the assent of 2/3 of the states given how much will be spent by corporations to defeat such an amendment and how gullible the American polity is.

What would it take for the left to face that fact that the ACLU backed the CU decision and talk about why they might have done that? What would it take for the left to discuss the fact that it was the decision was a decision to allow a filmaker to show a movie? Or are the left now openly pro-censorship?

If there is any means to change this outrage against our democracy, it is going to take something much larger and inclusive than any movement we've ever seen in our history. It is going to require that the tea baggers and there like minded brethren be persuaded to stand with Occupiers and a host of people who would otherwise not be involved in ANYTHING. Citizens United is almost a fait accompli to the country club that our congress and executive branches have become. We can count on nothing but resistance from that quarter. They have to be made to fear the people and that will take raw numbers in the street, an already difficult prospect, and it will have to be played out on the evening news which is even less likely to happen. How long was #OWS going before the broadcast news took notice? I would never advocate violence but I can forsee that it could come to that, in which case we lose again.

There are NO (legal) routes by which the ruling will be overturned within the next decade or longer.If it survives brave Sir Barry's second term--and I see NOTHING in view that threatens it--no legislative remedies can pass the Congress which grows richer daily in the aftermath of the ruling. Any efforts to repeal it legislatively or by Amendment are doomed, because them must be APPROVED by the very people in office who stand to lose so much, and who are owned by those who profit directly by it.
