Following Donald Trump’s poor performance while speaking at the Al Smith charity dinner, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign released an evocative ad on Friday depicting the father of Capt. Humayun Khan tearfully asking if his fallen son would have a place in Trump’s America. With the election less than three weeks away, Khan remains a stark reminder of Trump’s disdain for both U.S. service members and religious tolerance.

“In 2004, my son was stationed in Iraq,” Khizr Khan says in the video while standing over his son’s folded uniform and gently caressing the brim of the Army captain’s hat. “He saw a suicide bomber approaching his camp. My son moved forward to stop the bomber when the bomb exploded. He saved everyone in his unit. Only one American soldier died.”

Holding a tri-fold American flag, Khan stares at photographs of his heroic son and continues, “My son was Captain Humayun Khan. He was 27 years old, and he was Muslim American.”

While Khan’s son made the ultimate sacrifice to save the lives of everyone in his unit, Trump’s sons, Eric and Donald Jr., have become notorious for killing large animals and posing next to big-game trophies. Even after the recent Access Hollywood video and allegations from at least 10 women accusing Trump of sexual misconduct, his daughters, Ivanka and Tiffany, have failed to adequately denounce his lewd words and probable actions.

Besides wanting to build a wall and implement a plan to deport millions of Mexicans, Trump also announced that he will ban Muslims from entering the country if elected. In response to Trump’s glaring xenophobia, Khan appeared at the Democratic National Convention alongside his wife, Ghazala Khan, to deliver an inspiring speech about his son’s courageous sacrifice for this country.

“Let me ask you, have you even read the U.S. Constitution?” Khan addressed Trump at the convention while holding up a copy of the document. “I will gladly lend you my copy.”

Instead of apologizing to Khan and his family or showing an ounce of integrity, Trump launched a series of attacks against them while insulting Khan’s wife and the memory of their son. Shortly after Khan’s speech, Trump told ABC, “If you look at his wife, she was standing there. She had nothing to say. She probably – maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say. You tell me.”

Despite the fact that Ghazala later explained that she had been too emotional to speak at the convention, Trump went on to dishonor the memory of their heroic son during the second debate by claiming that Humayun would still be alive today if Trump were president.

Khan said Trump’s statement was a lie, and that the only thing Trump sacrifices is the truth.

The newly released ad concludes with Khan’s trembling voice inquiring, “I want to ask Mr. Trump, would my son have a place in your America?”
