Early this week, a lawsuit was filed by ClassAction.com attorney Rene Rocha against the three largest dicamba manufacturers in the U.S. Dicamba is an herbicide that is sold by these companies (under their own distinct name), and is highly volatile.

Monsanto, BASF and DuPont’s herbicide has caused injuries to plants miles away from where it has been used, affecting farm’s crops. Monsanto, and the other companies, have tried to sell the herbicide as having “low-volatility,” which ended up being false information provided to farmers who used the product.

“This has been a major issue for American agriculture,” said Mr. Rocha. “Farmers across the country relied upon the defendants’ assurances that these new formulations of dicamba could be used safely and without harm to others. That simply isn’t true, and as a result, thousands of farmers are staring down lean harvests and uncertain futures.”

The lawsuit makes note of numerous allegations against dicamba, highlighting damage done in many states across the U.S. to millions of acres to crops.

The lawsuit hopes permanent injunctions will be placed on these large companies, forcing them to stop selling and marketing their dicamba herbicide.
