Six years of progressive news and activism

Six years ago this month, myself and a small team of dedicated progressives came together to launch NationofChange.

We volunteered our time, made sacrifices in our personal and professional lives, and we put our hearts and souls into this organization. Why? Because we believe that dedicated individuals armed with knowledge and fueled by compassion and optimism can enact dramatic change, even in a world fraught with corruption and injustice.

We’ve done a lot of good and reached a lot of people

We’ve helped educate and empower millions of people over these past six years. Along with our fearless journalism, we’ve provided our readers with the information and resources they needed to take action on the issues that matter to them. And we taken action ourselves.

From providing clothing and shelter to our brothers and sisters in Zuccotti Park in 2011, to abolishing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of debt for struggling Americans, to our successful billboard campaign against Monsanto, to standing shoulder to shoulder in the freezing snow with our water protectors at Standing Rock, to marching for equality in the Women’s March – NationofChange has played an active role in positive change.

We have a lot to be proud of. We’ve earned the respect and endorsement of influential public figures like Noam Chomsky, and celebrities like Jeff Bridges; and we’ve established ourselves as the only progressive news source that provides a way for readers to immediately take action on the issues they read about in our articles.

But it’s time for a change.

It’s time we took it to the next level

Times are changing. The mainstream media is growing in power and it is vital that independent organizations like NationofChange adapt to meet the demands of a diverse audience of progressives.

With this in mind, NationofChange will be revamping our entire site, in an effort to make the issues clearer and getting involved even easier.

Change is in our name, but we are not ones to change for the sake of change. There is an important reason for this change.

There is simply too much noise across the vast internet and not enough substance. Too much doom and gloom, and not enough solutions. Media outlets are flooding the net with thousands of articles on the same story, each with its own surface-level spin, while adding nothing to the public’s understanding of the issues and providing no actionable solutions.

We are aiming to change that with our new site, cutting out the noise and focusing on making the critical issues clear for everyone, focusing on optimism, and giving everyone the tools they need to take action.

We want to hear what you want

Sure, we have a lot of great ideas for the upgraded site, and we know you are going to love our big changes, but we want to know what you think.

If you have any suggestions or requests for the new NationofChange site – from our logo to our newsletter, from our articles to our fundraisers – we want to hear it!

Click here to leave us a message, and let us know what you would like to see change with the new NationofChange.

Help us get this project off the ground

Starting this month, we are putting all extra funds toward building you a better NationofChange.

But in order to have extra funds, we need to first raise a minimum of $25,000 to continue our work through August.

We have dedicated our lives to you for the last six years, and we hope to dedicate the next six years to you as well – but we need your support right now to make it happen.

If you appreciate the work we’ve done these past six years and you want to see NationofChange become a stronger, more influential force in progressive media over the next six, please click here to donate now.
