It is time for Kroger to act right now and to focus on increasing domestically produced organic products.

Kroger, an American retail company and the US’ largest supermarket chain, has been found to have cancer-causing pesticide residue that is harmful to both honeybees and children’s brain development in many of their products.

Friends of the Earth, an international network of environmental organizations in 74 countries, found many staple products, like pinto beans, apples, cheerios and spinach, to contain certain chemicals that are harmful to human, animal and environmental health.

Although Kroger has responded saying they will try to phase out these products by 2020, harmful items are still being distributed and sold.

Organophosphates, a chemical found in some of their foods, can be linked to neurological disorders, long-term damage to children’s brains and cancer. Neonicotinoids, another chemical found in some of their foods, is linked to the falling bee populations which puts our food supply in danger.

We need action now!
