Straw poll shows Sanders in the lead with environment and healthcare as top priorities

A new poll conducted by Democracy for America shows Bernie Sanders leading as the top 2020 Democratic Presidential candidate with Elizabeth Warren in second place.

The 2020 President Pulse Poll as members of Democracy for America to vote for up to three potential candidates and top issues. Bernie Sanders cames in with 32.16%, followed by Elizabeth Warren with 25.76%, Kamala Harris with 11.81%, and Joe Biden with 9.53%.

The poll ranked the three most important issues as the Green New Deal (20.21%), Medicare for All (19.61%), and Impeach Trump (6.77%). Some of the other top issues that were mentioned were End Citizens United (6.47%), Universal Basic Income (5.29%) and Voting Rights (4.66%).

The poll began immediately following the June 27th Democratic debate and ran until Wednesday, July 17th. The is the 3rd Presidential Pulse Poll of the 2020 election, the previous two also showed Bernie Sanders in the lead.

“The last three months have transformed the 2020 Democratic race for President and these results make it clear that Democracy for America members’ support is solidifying behind three candidates committed to bold, inclusive populism and structural reform,” said Democracy for America Chair Charles Chamberlain in a statement.

“While a lot will change between today and the first contests next year, after seeing these results, there is no doubt that, in 2020, Democrats are better positioned to nominate an unapologetic champion for progressive values for President than we’ve been in decades.”
