Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the 22 representatives joining her in calling for a Select Committee are also proposing a novel way to fund the program, one which could actually work.

"And just like that, GOP discovers $5.7 billion for a wall," says the incoming congresswoman. "But notice how no one's asking the GOP how they're paying for it."

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez celebrated the simple political concept that when you push for policies that are good for a majority of people, a majority of people like it.

"Democratic leadership signs off on these events. The new class isn't having it."

For the first time in recent memory, there is a growing clarion call for a response that goes beyond the limits imposed by our economic system.
