The systematic criminalization of Black and Brown youth in schools is one of the most egregious examples of systemic racism and violence in this country. But what can young people of color do when their leaders are blatantly investing in their failure, not their future? In Milwaukee, they can join Leaders Igniting Transformation (LIT), a student group that is mobilizing and training young people of color to be civically engaged. Through advocacy, leadership, and organizing, LIT is fighting for an equitable society with racial, gender, economic, and LGBTQ+ justice.

In Brave New Films’ latest #YouthInAction series, LIT fights to stop the school-to-prison pipeline. Watch the film to find out if LIT’s demand to invest in their future succeeds.
