With the November election less than three months away, the threat to our democracy couldn’t be higher. Trump and the Republicans are making it harder for every American to vote by denouncing mail-in voting as “fraud,” attempting to slow down the postal service and refusing to fund voting by mail during a deadly pandemic. This, of course, is in addition to the voter suppression tactics that have been targeting voters, especially voters of color, for years.

It’s easy to get angry or worried and throw your hands up, but there is something you can do right now.

The film “Suppressed 2020: The Fight to Vote” exposes the growing threat of voter suppression to our 2020 election. Polling place closures, voter purges, missing absentee ballots, extreme wait times and voter ID issues that we saw in Georgia in 2018 were in full effect again during the 2020 primaries, disproportionately affecting Black Americans and minorities from casting their ballots. Now, amid a global health crisis, the cruel weaponization of vote-by-mail restrictions has turned the constitutional right to vote into a choice between life and death.

This is your chance to help fight voter suppression before it’s too late. Watch “Suppressed 2020: The Fight to Vote” and then sign up to host a free virtual screening with your friends, with your family, with your classmates or at your place of worship. Brave New Films will provide a free digital download. Go to www.fighttovote.org now to get started.
