DC police officer arrested for DUI after crashing into Virginia State Trooper

A D.C. police officer was arrested Friday and charged with driving under the influence after crashing into a Virginia State Trooper’s patrol vehicle.

Around 12:30 a.m. on Friday morning, D.C. Police Officer Chad E. Leo was driving a BMW on Interstate 66 when he struck the back of a Virginia State Trooper’s SUV. According to police, the trooper’s vehicle had been stationary in a closed and coned off work zone with its emergency lights activated.

The trooper suffered minor injuries and received treatment at a local hospital. Police officials have not yet disclosed the trooper’s identity.

Officer Leo was arrested for driving under the influence. D.C. police confirmed that Leo is a current officer.

Leo was not injured during the time of the crash. The incident currently remains under investigation.
