How and will this modern-day Civil War end?

“When you are in a war, it is typically because there are certain things that stand out as the reasons why it is happening; and here in the America of today, we certainly have them in spades.” Author unknown.

America is in the midst of a modern-day Civil War and there are definite reasons why this is happening. We have reached a point in our history in which there are opposing elements and factions that no longer can work together, cannot even meet in the middle, for the common good, and are working against each other in very harmful, destructive ways.

Here are the main characters on each side of this escalating, bitter conflict that is in the process of tearing this country apart:

On the one side: Trump, Republicans, red states, QAnon, the Oath Keepers, the Proud Boys, and other ultra-radical groups.

On the other: Decent, normal Americans, blue states, the rule of law, the nation’s democracy, and the US Constitution

In the following, we will go over some of the worst cases of extreme disagreement and, in many cases, the use of dangerous, destructive tactics and actions to bring severe harm to others.

But first: many of us remember living in a country in which there were few deep divisions between Americans. Of course, there were always differences of one kind or another. Sometimes they could get pretty testy but not even close to what they are in today’s America.

Back then people weren’t that divided politically. It was a country in which those in Congress could strongly disagree on issues, work their differences out, and then come up with bipartisan solutions; not always, but most of the time.

It was a time in which the country was not plagued by constant mass shootings and we weren’t watching our young children get gunned down while sitting in schools.

Those days are long gone. We’re now living in a different world.

What’s involved with this drastic turn in our lives and how did we ever get to this point?

One of the worst things that happened in the past was when the doors of the US Congress were opened and massive amounts of corporate campaign funding flowed in. Congress has never been the same. We now have a bunch of politicians who get down on their knees regularly to feed at the $$ troughs of Corporate America.

America is in the midst of a war against itself, one with no winners and all losers. What are the very worst aspects of this war, and who are the ones most responsible for advancing it, rather than working to bring it to an end?

First and foremost, there is that part of the war in which armed killers, using AR15s and other assault weapons, go up against innocent little kids in school who have no weapons. Well, the bad guys always win and the little kids always lose.

Wiser heads in Washington, DC could end this carnage, but they (Republicans) watch one massacre after another and just look the other way, they don’t give a damn.

Next, we have Donald J. Trump’s war on America. He is using the forces of the Republican Party and his foot soldiers, the 75 million or so Americans who call him their Dear Leader, to launch his deadly attacks on the US democracy and the Constitution.

Some years back, Trump saw a Republican Party that was rapidly deteriorating and realized that he had a chance to take it over. He was extremely successful in this very easy endeavor and the party has now become a subsidiary of Trump, Inc.

As could have been predicted, as the head of this party, Trump used his power in a destructive way. It’s now common knowledge that he initiated the terrible attack on the US Capitol by a huge, out-of-control mob. He laid the groundwork for this vicious attack that caused sheer terror for those inside the Capitol and killed and wounded Capitol police.

The US Supreme Court, now a subsidiary of the Republican Party, has turned rogue and has decided to declare war against the women of America by banning abortions; in effect, controlling their bodies. I’ve heard that Clarence Thomas also wants to ban contraceptives. What does he intend to do, send agents out across America, to enter bedrooms and dispense contraceptives?

In these conflicts, we see the national media as one of Trump’s best friends. He would never have been elected in 2016 except for the American media. Now, as he is getting close to being indicted for any number of crimes, we continue to see his grinning face day in and day out all over the TV channels. The media can’t get enough of this guy who wants to tear our democracy down. What they should do is SHUT HIM DOWN!!

We are watching the second chapter of the Great Civil War unfold. Truth be told, this horrific war never ended. Its flame was recently reignited by the red states. The red states may put up a strong fight in this war, but they will never overcome the massive power of the blue states.

We will soon see a mass exodus of women from red states to blue states when they need abortions. And, then, sad to say, we will also see some very violent confrontations when those women try to leave red states and attempt to get abortions in blue states.

This nation’s democracy and Constitution are under attack by those who are determined to install an authoritarian government in this country and assume power and control.

The American people keep hearing this dire warning and, unfortunately, it seems as if it hardly registers with them. We might say they are just too busy worrying about gas prices and inflation and have no time for also worrying about the state of the union.

Now, let’s talk about the very dangerous Steve Bannon, who has recently issued a warning about a populist uprising. “On Wednesday, Bannon claimed, without substantiation, that the US will soon see a populist uprising of Hispanics, African Americans, and working-class people, and that MAGA-linked candidates will clinch government positions at the state and federal levels.” I believe his thinking is upside down.

Here’s a quote from Malcolm NanceMSNBC Chief counter-terrorism analyst: He said, To varying degrees, as many as 74 million Americans have expressed hostility towards American democracy” That observation about these particular Americans is deeply troubling. Nance is a highly regarded investigator and we better heed his words about these kinds of Americans. He says we should watch them very closely.

How and will this modern-day Civil War end? Will it continue with no end in sight? The American people better wake up to the dangers that are posed by those who are now planning phase two of the insurrectionists’ attack on the US Capitol. The next attack on our form of government, our democracy could be successful.

What exactly must the American people do? They should watch the final televised hearings of the Jan.6 Special Committee investigating the Jan.6 attacks. Watch cable news, not Fox, to hear reports on what is happening. Think deeply about the dangers that these ultra-radical insurrectionist groups, aligned with Trump and his followers, pose to this nation.

All Americans who stand for our democracy and the Constitution have to be ready to do whatever they can, whatever is necessary, to assist others, in the government or in other organizations that will be responsible for repelling any insurrectionists that dare to try to strike again.
