No president revels more in violent payback schemes, producing a flood of death-dealing barrages, directly and indirectly. Only a Putin or Netanyahu, civilian war killers, compete with the American Destroyer-in-chief. Gosh, who ever thought denial, death and destruction would not wash? Naturally, as approvals tank, Donald the Deviant invents new ways to assault innocent victims, confirming he’s as bad at PR “fixes” as creating the original fiascos. What irresistible, party-burning midterm messaging! Iran War blunders, paralysis at impeding Israeli genocide or Ukrainian massacres and ten military strikes in 18 months, are all about showing – and displaying DT’s – might makes right mindset. Psychopathic malignant narcissists never waste a shot to show off.
Not only does he find unheard of ways to waste other people’s money, Trump delights, with malice aforethought, in touting narrow escapes, a mock super-hero. Lamer than ever, Duck-brain will pull out the stops, spreading more misery and bloodshed. The perverse backlash to blatant failures seeks out disempowered underlings he can crush, with extra bravado. Does this loser suck or what, beyond what Founders feared in any president?
Motto for the Trump gang could well be J. Robert Oppenheimer’s chilling admission, “Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.” The MAGA intimidation-violence-death spiral list is laced with needless tragedy: ICE deaths from lawless imprisonment and evil mistreatment (force feeding, dying after release), science-obliterating vaccine denials, millions forced to buy food, not life-saving drugs, lost health insurance, Medicaid and Medicare takeaways, SNAP (food stamp) deprivations – capped by Trump assassinating innocent Venezuelans at sea. These are BUT the conspicuous death-dealing moves. Indirect misjudgments are just as lethal: facilitated gun sales (and more mass killings), shredded mental health services, and cruelly jeopardizing the lives of law-abiding immigrants exiled to unsafe places where they’ve never lived.
A career horror spectacle: nothing new here
On the homicide/smashup front, Trump has never obscured his combination of malice, ignorance and misfirings. Recall the unforced, staggeringly backward first-term blunders on a controllable Covid-19 pandemic. Repeatedly, Trump played the most dangerous, quack “pharmacist” ever, defying science, rejecting viable solutions (masks, distancing, controlled closures) – then dumping fake Covid cures (ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, bleach). Of 7 million deaths worldwide, America supplied a whopping 1.2 million – a 17% share – half judged needless. We have only 4.4% of earthlings, yet suffered deaths nearly equal to the next two: Brazil (700K) and India (533K), the latter with FOUR times the population. Shocking mass death totals, despite far greater wealth, medical expertise, drug delivery, and media leverage. Yep, America was dramatically the “exceptional” killing field.
Not only do MAGA Trump manias increase death tolls, worse still, they learn nothing. Trump and crew gets stupider by the week, corruptly lying about everything (wars, inflation, economy, Epstein, vanity construction fiascos) – PLUS threatening war crimes that won’t defeat Iran. This Destroyer-in-chief loves to demolish things, people, ex-loyalists, agencies, services – without either legal authority or plans/talent to rebuild: East Wing, the Reflecting Pool, Trump arch, and gold-plated statues. Plus, the outrageous Kennedy Center double/triple debacle. Will the nastiest, Epstein rape and pillage abusers ever be held accountable for later suicides?
The How is horribly clear: the Why, a tad more elusive
We know all too well the HOW and WHAT of the violence-driven MAGA Trump Fatality Slog. The why must track psychological disorders. Here’s a shameless hustler drawing on actual, separable psychological categories: malignant narcissist, Machiavellian and psychopathic disorders. What other deviant, locked into rigidly misguided frames, goes ballistic when blatant failures are confirmed, admits nothing, denies all, slanders and indicts critics? What nutcase, whenever his intractability is refused, thinks infinite lying and loudmouth bluster will work, except towards spineless enablers whose jobs depend on bowing down? NOT with E. Jean Carroll, savvy district attorneys, a horde of rebuking judges, vociferous Democrats, Dr. Fauci, Jack Smith, and John Brennan, let alone millions in Canada, Denmark, Greenland and Europe who defy Trump madness. What self-deluded imbecile denies chronic polling disasters, “they’re not angry at me,” lied Trump, just Republicans?
Who doubts DT’s thinnest of skin exposes huge self-esteem voids, amped up by paranoia and/or the terror of looking stupid and failing. Refusing to admit error, let alone learn from mistakes, the incurably insecure massively over-compensate, sabotaging ends with impulsive, backfiring blunders; then, compulsively, they repeat, horrendous consequences be damned. Instant rages trigger instant, instinctive violence as the disordered Machiavellian/psychopath blocks empathy or remorse. Life becomes a zero-sum game with only one absolute, publicized winner. If epic insecurity results from never feeling loved or accepted, thus worthy, there’s no foundation for fostering adult, life-directing principles. If one doubts that one’s life has any meaning, beyond surface appearances, then no one’s existence has any meaning. That means anything goes, totally oblivious to all outcomes.
Ethicists show having moral agency demands 1) fostering an internal compass that establishes what’s valuable to life, and 2) true goodness inevitably rebounds on itself, rewarding the doer, the community and any higher powers. Doing the right thing is self-fulfilling vs. avoiding wickedness only out of shame or guilt or looming punishment. Because psychopaths lack values or principles (beyond “me, me, me”), they invalidate shame, remorse, and moral responsibility. For psychopaths, cherry-picked reality defaults into control and getting their way, serving delusions of self-importance.
If life has no meaning, how does one separate heroes from villains, good vs. bad, right vs. wrong? All such terms are vaporized, displaced by ego displays, breaking the rules (because psychos can), and rushing to conflict, even violence. Certifying worthiness comes down to who ends up with the most marbles (dollars, mansions, yachts, notoriety) – far superior to pathetic, do-gooding “losers” who honor others. Not having a moral center defines death-dealers.
Character (and values) define destiny
In short, there are established protocols that explain anti-social immorality – void of principles, trust, meaning, self-esteem, truth-telling, and honor. Why else does the rampaging bully respond to challenges with intimidation, noisy battle declarations, violent or otherwise, and contempt for communal rules, laws, or Constitutions – essential common ground for any self-respecting democracy?
A psychopath is by definition unsocialized, unable to escape his or her defects, damage and demons; if that person has agency (money, rank, position, leverage), they act out every spoiled fantasy, then throw tantrums when denied or challenged. Undisciplined (unloved, emotionally neglected) children never learn how to be an adult in a complex social world. Stunted man-childs never grow up and so juvenile violence (hitting, grabbing, stealing, throwing, name-calling) is the order of the day.
Starting unjustified wars (imposing illegal tariffs, weaponing justice) become just another game on the world’s game board stripped of collectively-agreed values. Self-interested egotism banishes all dead victims who just happen to “be in the wrong place at the wrong time.” A mean-spirited, unfeeling malignant narcissist + Machiavellian + psychopath works tirelessly to fool enough people enough of the time, stopped only when a greater force, like the suspect Supreme Court of a midterm rout, intervenes.
That defectively-blind 2024 voters created today’s deadly, violent consequences, by failing to attend to the extremely obvious – represents the most basic test of democratic viability. The equally daunting challenge is how to heal deep scarring long after the nemesis has left the field. It will be a good while. Two traumatic WH terms mean our country will never be the same.
