‘My religion’s better than yours’ – so there!

Way back, the anxious bought religion –
To stomach frights like circumcision.

Must be higher-ups, far and wide:
For how else does land from sea divide?

Then comes reversal with Noah’s flood
A tsunami that left rocks and mud;

When earth’s reduced to inundated sea,
No downer to miss a front door key.

Yet fouling the land can’t be retracted –
And who dared gripe, “God overreacted”?

No roadmaps or signs for bay or town –
What if water-world never goes down?

Behold the “religious” stalking horse:
The bad wipes out the good – no remorse.

Were there no saints without Ark escape –
When God drowns our prime real estate?

A world extinction – a killing ground –
While “chosen” elites sail round and round.

No survivor faced a jamboree –
Oh no! Only wasted, drenched debris.

Hardly the “Good news” that unifies,
A death-trip with moral battle cries.

Does heaven judge ruin hunky-dory?
No Satan ever matched this “glory.”

And so hosannahs of peace and love
Disintegrate to push and shove.

One tribe “owns” the holy citadel,
All others must be damned to hell.

That’s why vast multitudes nowadays
Disown heaven or hellish forays.

To fix all truths on realms invisible
Strikes skeptics as inadmissible.

Unlike smart science and lively arts,
Blind faith targets not brains but hearts;

Self-righteous “saints” defy compromise:
Their way alone grants pie in the sky.

Is that how higher forces civilize –
Committed to scare and demonize?

What groundless doctrine twisted and bent
Embrace the human in the sacred tent?
