Jena Martin and Karen Kunz

Professor Martin is a Professor of Law and the Associate Dean for Innovation & Global Development. She teaches in the areas of business and securities regulation. After practicing for a number of years at the litigation firm of Ross, Dixon & Bell, she joined the United States Securities & Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement. Professor Martin left the SEC in 2005 to obtain her LL.M. at the University of Texas Law School in the area of international law, with a focus on human rights. Upon graduation, Martin returned to the Washington D.C. area where she consulted for Bloomberg L.P. while doing pro bono work for the RFK Memorial Center for Human Rights. Her current scholarship is in the burgeoning academic field of business and human rights issues. She also writes extensively on securities regulation and disclosure. Dr. Kunz teaches courses on public financial management, public budgeting, economic fiscal policy and advocacy, and civil disobedience. Her research interests include public finance and fiscal policy, political economy, and financial markets regulation. In addition, Dr. Kunz has over 25 years of professional experience in the financial markets industry. She began her career in the municipal bond market before starting one of the first female-owned consulting firms in the industry. Her clients included institutional investors and traders, and boutique, regional and multinational firms. Dr. Kunz serves on the board of directors for the American Association of Budget and Program Analysts (www.aabpa.org), Public Financial Publications (PFP), and the West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy (wvpolicy.org).
