Hamilton and the other founders were reassured that with this compromise system, neither public ignorance nor outside influence would affect the choice of a nation’s leader.

While Trump has been acquitted by controlled Republicans, in no sense of the word has he been exonerated.

But let’s not blame the Founders because they had no way of knowing how large this country would become and the great degree to which the populations of its states would vary.

They would decry the current situation in which a succession of U.S. presidents has usurped that power, probably the greatest violation of the Constitution in the history of this nation.

What We the People lost when the Constitution gave monarchical power to a small band of unelected people in robes.

If the Founding Fathers saw what the United States has become, they would be devastated. Poverty, income inequality, suppression of speaking ones mind, crime, war, and oligarch like behaviors all make up this new U.S. It is far from being the democracy it was created as.
