With the Trump administration unraveling what remains of the U.S. arms control regime, Democratic candidates desperately need to articulate their plans to avert a nuclear crisis.

With none of the major presidential candidates raising this kind of nuclear disarmament program, it is up to the US peace movement and Green Party candidates up and down the ticket to inject these demands into the 2020 elections.

So if what Trump wanted was “no nukes,” then he already had that in the form of the JCPOA, which he has tried to destroy!

The international community can only hope that the carnage and chaos of February was the last in a tragic series of encounters between nuclear neighbors that could otherwise lead South Asia to devastation and the world to nuclear winter.

If nuclear war comes, it will happen because of a calculation or miscalculation by India or Pakistan.

It’s essential for us to remember such grim details, not just for the sake of history, but for our future.

While the current administration seems to run on uncontrollable testosterone, the problem of nuclear weapons didn’t start with them, even its immediate predecessor helped to bring about this impasses.
