By shining a spotlight on what would normally be an internal process decision, Ocasio-Cortez has turned the Green New Deal Committee creation into a referendum on the populist progressive agenda.

Because this possibility is simply too important, and time is just too short, to allow it to be shut down by the usual forces of political inertia.

Clearly, much of the Democratic Party’s momentum is now coming from the left. And many of the positions that the timeworn Democratic leadership has staked out are now being overrun.

Aside from the midterms, organizations are also funding pro-environment lobbying efforts. So far in 2018, $13.2 million has been spent for lobbying on environmental issues.

Far too many so-called representatives of the people forget the working men and women who volunteered their valuable time to canvass and call and convince for them.

All in all, the results of these midterms show that progressive ideas are gaining ground with American voters, even in unexpected places.
