Accused of fatally shooting a woman at her ex-girlfriend’s apartment, an off-duty NYPD officer was arrested Wednesday after she confessed to shooting two women.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, off-duty NYPD Officer Yvonne Wu, 31, was reportedly waiting inside her ex-girlfriend’s Brooklyn apartment when Jenny Li, 23, and her 24-year-old new lover, Jamie Liang, returned to Li’s home. According to police officials, Wu fatally shot Liang at least once in the chest and shot Li in the torso. Li was later transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover.
During a press conference on Wednesday night, NYPD Assistant Chief Michael Kemper stated, “Simply put, she confessed.”
When police arrived at the scene, Wu allegedly admitted to shooting Li and Liang. She also told her colleagues where to find the murder weapon.
According to police sources, Wu and Li had dated for two years before recently breaking up three weeks ago. A police source told The New York Post, “She was still staying there on and off. She was still staying there some nights. It’s not that strange, maybe she thought it could still work out.”
Police have not yet confirmed how Wu entered Li’s apartment before Li and Liang arrived.
