Barbaric ICE message: failure to slavishly obey all-powerful, immunized ICE thuggery jeopardizes one’s breathing – laws, rights, rational procedures, even humanity be damned.
Pity the poor, shoot-first ICE onslaught, having to stomach legal, verbal protests after invading safe neighborhoods where resilient citizens defy outlaw commands. If only the law-abiding Renee Good, ambushed by masked men in unmarked vehicles, hadn’t tried to bolt from harassment, detention or worse, she’d still be alive. But failure to escape would have certainly made her a victim – manhandled and mistreated, judging by the militant command, “Get out of that f-cking car,” soon followed by “f-cking bitch.” Imagine the treatment had she broken the law or threatened the masked raiders.
So much for well-honed policing standards, as the rancid ICE model demonstrates how fake soldiers think brutality and foul insults substitute for legal, adult interrogation. Trumpism scorns legal thresholds at home as it sneers at international law overseas. Consider the low-brow source (and top commanders). The consistency of ICE brutality, impugned for killing four and wounding dozens, proves beyond reasonable doubt that brigands obey two constructs: 1) use maximum, even deadly force as crude default policy; and 2) the Trump DOJ guarantees agents won’t face liability or indictment, whatever happens.
That means the entire ICE training program is less about enforcing law than crassly, openly intimidating the (non-MAGA) population so neither protest nor resistance impedes this politicized ICE spectacle. Indeed, executing MAGA Trump’s mania for violence (harm/shoot first, lie/cover up later), ICE is the dream Trumpian private army. Who else arbitrarily kidnaps suspects not because they’re serious criminals but to publicize the conspicuous, if inhumane, assaults against “illegals”? Or to incite such profound dread that all hated dissenters (or innocents for that matter) bend the knee to offensive force, legal or not?
ICEy scurrility on living color
Do we need more proof that once-hallowed citizen rights against unlawful arrest and excessive force are now obsolete (even for middle-age, white women in upscale cars)? Who now doubts ICE goons were trained that they can do whatever they want for whatever reason – and with specious DOJ immunity? That they bought this legal BS speaks to their zealotry as state A.G.’s can and will step in and punish malefactors. Is this not Trump’s most visible, most punitive bludgeon in his endless battering – an American gestapo that stalks liberal strongholds capable of abusing targeted suspects, context and citizenship (and now race) be damned? Hundreds of falsely-imprisoned citizens, some jailed for months, must fight to regain freedom.
In short, ICE is the “perfect” domestic agency to fulfill the belligerent charades at the core of MAGA politics – street brutality to match relentless Trump chicanery pulsing with disinformation ( as with Jan. 6, way beyond misinformation). Actual, self-evident terrorism is exposed when demonizing the murdered MN victim as an agitating, left-winger guilty of “domestic terrorism,” per Kristi Noem, the manifestation of Trumpian sickness and mendacious head of “Homeland Security.” Really, how “christ-like” is this gnome?
A further irony is that intimidation sullied by wholly unjustified death traps fails to affright, producing greater mass resistance, the logical boomerang effect. When the homicidal ICE agent gunned down an innocent mother simply trying to get out of the way, he not only ruined his and her lives but ignited loathing, not fear by protesters. Now thousands nation-wide defy lawless harassment, even murder of a law-abiding citizen caught in some bizarre, totally unreadable, tragic crossfire. Failed, violent intimidation programs rebound on themselves when the law of unintended consequences takes over. Even Rethugs can’t defend the indefensible, buttressed by repeated videos that expose the conspicuous crimes – and heartless aftermath.
What ICE represents is not only trench warfare from the Trump/Miller/Noem predatory control machine but the attempt to reduce a first-world nation to dangerous, third-world status for targeted citizens. For ICE aggression to succeed (despite heavy promises, netting relatively few criminals), it must scare Americans into confusion, passivity and obedience. But that’s not happening as protests explode. Yes, divisions increase but how many swallow outlandish claims Dem lefties are the ones who “politicize” a 100% political violence project to 1) show how powerful is MAGA Trump; and 2) squelch legal protests and force obedience? Gross, if typical Trump incompetence, is worlds away from Nazi efficiency.
“Homeland Security” in fact Homeland Insecurity
So, violent thugs are imported to militarize major (liberal) cities, wreak vengeance and pander to fear-mongered MAGA fanatics. But instead what gets TV airtime is raw brutality reinforced by the most outrageous propaganda: is a mother dropping off her son a symbol of earthshaking terrorism, guilty of menace against MAGA? Au contraire, Ms. Good is fast becoming another poster child victim of blind, excessive police brutality (and the unspeakable immorality of top bosses). Corruptly, stupidly defending massively excess force against a made-up “terrorist” reinforces the ultimate criminality of MAGA Trump government-driven terrorism, lying the unarmed, unaggressive Good “deserved what she got.”
In the end, like other martyrs, Ms. Good promises to become a heroic example of NOT being intimidated, then paying the ultimate price, maliciously killed. That turns this murder into the worst PR backlash, an indictment of illegitimate authority, joining unjustly killed victims like George Floyd, Breonna Tayler, Sonya Massey, Roger Fortson, Eric Gardner, Douglas Zerby and Rodney King, among countless, literally countless others. Or per KOAT (Arizona TV) news, ICE, immigration officials have shot at people at least 16 times in Trump second term.
Need anyone sane, with even a pinch of Christian morality, go on to prove that calculated political violence, lawlessness and moral derangement compose the most noxious brew imaginable? And that they will produce their own worst rewards. Wait until the November election as the House reversal, easy to predict, could now arrive with a Senate reversal, now a more likely consequence of a presidency that makes the first, second worst Trump disaster almost seem like the good old days.
