To pander to racist MAGA goons,
The latest slime from swamp buffoons;
Obama heads atop a gorilla meme,
Hateful swill, certifiably obscene.
Add threats to wreck mid-term elections,
Pissing on mandated, legal objections;
Or vetoing NY’s tunnel gateway,
An unspeakably vile extortion play.
To degrade core monuments with “Trump”
Dishonors the world as toxic waste dump.
Such craven egocentricity
Snares malice, bad faith and senility.
And yet this tsunami of insane raves
Ignites more backlash and bluer waves.
The more unthinkable the vicious scrums,
The more triumphant Dem ballot outcomes.
Yes, folks will bleed, awful prices to pay
To endure this calculated doomsday;
But what reforms come without great pains?
The status quo sneers at balls and chains.
Though multitudes defy Trump deviance
And protesters reject deranged grievance,
Even stupid, wrong-headed bludgeons
Can smash broken systems with concussions.
Does not the past corroborate providence
That fuels the unintended consequence?
Don’t disruptions expose resistant reforms
Whether in years or with timely firestorms?
Today’s leverage dictates what’s to come,
As activist blueprints frame rules of thumb;
Time to revive Paine, Douglass and Thoreau
And press our progressive manifesto.
