David Collinson PhD is Emeritus Professor of Leadership and Organization at Lancaster University Management School. Previously at the Universities of Manchester, Warwick, St Andrews and South Florida, he is the Founding Co-Editor of the Leadership journal and Founding Co-Organizer of The International Studying Leadership Conference, both with Keith Grint. David’s publications focus on critical approaches to leadership, management and organization. His primary research interests explore leadership & followership dialectics; power, identities & insecurities; gender, men & masculinities; conformity, dramaturgy & resistance, and humour, positivity & Prozac leadership. David’s books include: The Sage Handbook of Leadership; Major Works in Leadership Studies Volumes 1-4; Organizational Studies: Critical Perspectives on Business and Management Volumes I-4; Men as Managers, Managers as Men: Critical Perspectives on Men, Masculinities and Managements; Managing the Shop floor: Subjectivity, Masculinity and Workplace Culture; Managing to Discriminate, and Job Redesign: Critical Perspectives on the Labour Process. David’s articles have appeared in leading journals such as Organization Studies, Human Relations, Academy of Management Learning & Education, Journal of Management Studies, Work, Employment & Society, Organization, Gender, Work & Organization, Leadership and Leadership Quarterly. He holds a doctorate, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in management from the University of Manchester. Keith Grint has been Professor Emeritus at Warwick University since 2018. He has taught at Brunel University, Oxford University, Lancaster University and Cranfield University. He is the Founding Co-Editor of the Leadership journal and Founding Co-Organizer of The International Studying Leadership Conference, both with David Collinson. His books include Management: A Sociological Introduction (1995); Fuzzy Management: Contemporary Ideas & Practices at Work (1997); The Arts of Leadership (2000); Leadership, Management & Command: Rethinking D-Day (2008); Leadership: A Very Short Introduction (2010); Leadership: Limits and Possibilities (with Owain Smolović Jones) (2022); Mutiny and Leadership (2024); A Cartography of Resistance: Leadership, Management and Command) (2024).
