This initiative, connected by the Twitter hashtag #BlackFridays, has resulted in a number of symbolic walkouts across the country led by a network of women of color.

At least 20 active members of Migrant Justice have been arrested and detained by ICE.

This change, of course, has added a new and different dynamic to the community and, some have surmised, was one of the reasons the bodega strike was unlike anything the Yemeni community expected or experienced prior.

Today, new movements are working with more established organizations to capitalize on their wide-reaching networks.
