Democracy is a government governed by the people and many citizens believe this is still how the United States is running. But in today’s society, unfortunately, we are living in a country controlled by the wealthy. People need to join together to change this.

The citizens of Nebraska used their democratic process to create a socialized, public-owned, citizen-governed utility company. If Nebraska did it, then the rest of America should too and end the concentration of private power companies.

Just because you do not necessarily agree with what the government does and the laws and bills they pass, does not mean you are disloyal to your country. The government is supposed to be there to protect the citizens, but lately the one percenters and corporate giants have government's attention.

America's laws help deter corporate crime and force victims to help subsidize criminals. It's shameful that the corporate-financed lawmakers legalize such criminality. Are corporate-coddling judges now playing the same disgraceful game?

The current trade deals being talked about in the U.S. is an ugly reality that American democracy no longer exists. The American government is loyal solely to giant corporations and their wealthy capitalist owners who so easily influence legislative decisions.

Reasonable people on the right and left will eventually join forces, recognize these self-serving hypocrites for what they are, vote them out and spearhead needed reforms. But the question is when?
