The greatest obstacle to progress – an intact, corrupt Republican Party that escapes severe punishment – must be decimated. A criminal lame duck president is the ideal battering ram to produce a lame duck national party.

After all, for all of its surrealistic unpredictability, Trump Presidency is reality T.V. This isn’t just happening on the small screen. It’s happening out there, in an increasingly nightmarish world.

When nominations and campaigns get corrupted, elections are inevitably degraded – and forget rational governance by capable leaders.

In this century, Americans have been in something like a contest of avoidance when it came to what their country and the planet it garrisons were becoming. If anything, Donald J. Trump has only made that avoidance easier...
