Now Homeland Security’s own inspector general has revealed how detained immigrants are subjected to rotten food, severe overcrowding, inadequate medical care, and broken and overflowing toilets.

Through its vast and deeply flawed social media monitoring, the Department of Homeland Security jeopardizes the rights of travelers, immigrants, refugees, and many others.

The United Nations special rapporteur on torture says solitary confinement should only be used in exceptional circumstances, and defines extended use of solitary as “inhuman and degrading treatment.”

Over 80 local law enforcement agencies, from over a dozen states, have agreed to share license plate location information with ICE.

That new policy is the subject of a federal lawsuit filed in Virginia that says the Trump administration is using migrant children as bait to arrest their undocumented family members.

"This is not normal! Why would any member of Congress or person of conscience support increasing funds and enabling this agency?"

Prior Inspector General reports have found medical neglect and other violations at other immigrant detention centers.

"We don't want money for an institution that is demonizing and criminalizing our immigrant neighbors."

"To the extent that the industry is in the business of expanding the system so they can make more money off holding more immigrants that can be confined, and doing everything possible to profit off of it by labor processes like getting detainees to work and paying them a dollar a day, there is very little distinction you can draw between slave labor and what they're doing."
