If the Court accepts the plea agreement, Officer Matthew Felitto will receive a sentence of probation along with a $7,500 fine.

During a recent interview, Sunrise Police Chief Anthony Rosa stated, “I find it to be inappropriate and unprofessional, because what he did is he escalated the situation when calm was actually required.”

According to the assessment, staffing shortages at the police department are leading to fatigue and frustration, while the quality of law enforcement has declined due to policies pushing officers to increase the number of arrests and citations.

Next month, all three men face a second trial on federal hate crime charges.

The Precinct One Internal Affairs Unit, Houston Police Department, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office are conducting investigations into the officer-involved shooting. Constable Rosen has not disclosed the name of the fired deputy who shot Hannibal.
