Maybe Republicans should start considering the undeniable fact that unemployment and poverty are a growing concern in America. Because every time a Republican becomes President, poverty and unemployment have increased.

The President’s recent SOTU speech did not allude to future help for the pro-middle-class proposals many hoped would turn into laws, it did not make many feel at ease about the TPP decisions soon to be made, and it did not give many progressives comfort as to what the political future will bring.

Republican policies have nudged it toward big gains at the top and stagnation for everyone else. When will the leading Republican hopefuls recognize the economy has to work for everyone and not just a few?

It’s all part of a long-running game in which the Democratic Party pretends to be the party of the working person. Are they really working hand-in-glove with the Republicans to continue sucking the life out of the 99 percent to give to the 1 percent?

The new Congress decided that its first order of business was to go after the disabled. Republican Congress is holding disabled workers hostage in order to extract concessions on these programs.

Reasonable people on the right and left will eventually join forces, recognize these self-serving hypocrites for what they are, vote them out and spearhead needed reforms. But the question is when?

The pattern of Republicans seems to be: if you don’t like the facts, make them up. Legislation based on lies often causes the public to be harmed.
