This article portrays a fictitious scenario in which every person who wanted to be considered for a government job would have to take both a lie detector and a mental test, and pass them, to be accepted. Let’s pretend that these two tests had been mandatory for some time and see what America and its government would be like right now. We know that lie detectors have some accuracy problems, so we also must pretend that new, very accurate versions had been developed.
Now about wars. When the French were leaving Vietnam in 1954, after they failed to achieve their military goals, the U.S. President Eisenhower considered sending military advisers to that country but decided that he did not want America to get involved in what he believed could turn into a long war. He then made it known that America would not get involved. And the U.S. never entered Vietnam.
In September 2001, a terrible attack on buildings in New York City. After the horrendous attack, President Bush was determined to find and kill Osama Bin Laden, whom he was convinced was the person behind the attack. Bush was advised to go after him in Afghanistan, but he refused. He had evidence that Osama was in Pakistan, and he sent Special Forces there that found and killed him. So, a war in Afghanistan had been averted.
Now, let’s go into later years. President George W. Bush, in 2003, was considering launching an attack on Iraq because it was thought that Saddam Hussein had large stores of weapons of mass destruction. But after a great many inspections by U.S. inspectors, they found no evidence of them. Bush then backed off and did not attack Iraq.
There would be no person in the government named Donald J. Trump. That person was a fraudulent businessman, known for his anger and hatefulness, who had recently been convicted 4 times for various crimes and was awaiting sentencing. He once had thoughts about running for president but decided that he lacked the necessary qualifications.
The U.S. House and Senate had honest and highly intelligent citizens who worked together in doing what they believed was in the best interests of the American people.
Here are some of their best achievements:
Quite some time ago, they had declared that those in Congress could not take any form of money or gifts. They had their large salaries, and that was enough. Acceptance of any form of bribery would bring immediate dismissal. Billionaires and powerful corporations were barred from giving large contributions of money to members of Congress and other parts of the government.
This Congress had developed a universal health care system that covered every American, very much like those of other developed nations. There was no Obamacare, Medicare, Medicaid, or the Veterans medical system, just one very large national health care system for all Americans. Congress also updated the SNAP program to make it more inclusive.
This great change in which all Americans were covered by health insurance coverage was a monumental advancement for America. In the past many millions of Americans, especially in the lower income class, had suffered because they had no coverage. The health care system for all Americans was a revolution, like a giant miracle.
Congress had also legislated very strong gun bans aimed at the AR-15 and other powerful military weapons. At the same time, most states eliminated open carry gun laws. And, the number of mass shootings, especially in schools and churches, went down dramatically. The NRA was forced out of business, as were most of the gun manufacturers.
Congress also had developed a new and effective immigration policy that ensured those entering this country did so legally and kept criminals and other misfits out. This was very important so that the states of California, Florida, Colorado, and others had the lawful immigrants to work on their farms. And that there were necessary immigrants to work in hotels, restaurants, and other jobs that Americans did not want to do.
The Supreme Court was made up of four Democrats and four Republican Justices with a Democratic Chief Justice. This court concentrated largely on delivering judgments that were in line with the Constitution and what was best for the American people. These justices were all very independent, accepted no gifts, and conducted themselves with honesty and decency.
Climate change had been coming on like a roaring lion for many years, causing all kinds of very powerful storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and even mudslides, but the government had totally ignored it. But, then after fully tested persons had become prevalent in the government, they listened to the climate scientists’ warnings about the massive upheaval coming to the country if this climate problem was not addressed. Then these government leaders reacted positively.
The brightest minds in the government and climate scientists began working together, and change did come. First, there was a huge effort to begin to convert fossil fuel industries to cleaner, more effective means of fueling. The manufacture of electric cars dramatically increased. Solar panels on roofs became commonplace. And America led the world in reacting to climate change in many ways.
American cities no longer had masked ICE agents or the National Guard patrolling their streets. The former president, who once used the threat of military power over cities, had been impeached and thrown out of office. Crime, especially in big cities, was markedly down across the country, and mayors and police took care of their cities well, without any government assistance.
In this American government, where those entering it would have to take lie detector and mental tests, these stringent requirements would guarantee that this government would have only the best of the best in it; those who were honest, had integrity, and had, as their top priority, doing the best job for the country and its people.
For the America people, it was like living in “America the Beautiful.”
