To paraphrase one Middle Eastern prophet, the leadership and media of western countries need to remove the log from their own eye before they will ever be able to help the greater Middle East remove the splinter from its own.

Bannon knows no more about war’s reality than he sees in Hollywood movies.

Reality or reality TV?

Ethiopians are killing one another in the Tigray region of the country where an armed conflict is raging between the Ethiopian military and forces loyal to the regional government.

Accurate language in the reporting of Israeli-Palestinian violence is not only a concern for journalists’ credibility – it would also provide U.S. news consumers with a deeper understanding of the conditions on the ground and the deadly consequences.

This incident not only disrupts the flow of crucial aid, but also casts a long shadow over the ethical obligations and legal frameworks governing conflict zones.

We may never know who is to blame, nor, sadly, are we likely to learn the names and the life stories of the victims.

"Maybe a little more 'Happy New Year!' and a little less 'Watch... our powerful bombs of mass destruction.'"

As we spiral toward a confrontation between the U.S. and Iran, it’s worth reflecting on the failures to rein in U.S. aggression along the way.
