The United States, originally founded on standards of ethics and morality, is currently on its way to world domination. Unfortunately, American citizens are left feeling helpless and struggling financially and the path U.S. government is taking will make it worse.

Oil prices continue to plummet, hurting states in the U.S. such as North Dakota, where fractured petroleum can't compete with the prices. Yet, King Salman refuses to change the policy or give up Saudi Arabia's oil market share.

It's debated that the movie, “American Sniper,” showcases despicable aspects of U.S. society—our gun culture, blind adoration for the military and innate privileges as Christians. Does the movie cater to a "deep sickness rippling through our society?"

So many tax dollars have been spent on the further militarization of the country. We no longer have the slightest idea what life might be like if, instead of 17 significant intelligence outfits, we had just two of them, or even one.

When will this government understand that there is a direct correlation between military hubris and terrorism? When will it stop creating its own enemies?

The massacre in northern Nigeria has killed and injured hundreds, possibly thousands. Boko Haram, a military terrorist group in Africa, is responsible for this horrific attack.

An estimated 3.7 million people rallied across France Sunday in response to the Charlie Hebdo shootings and ensuing attacks that left 17 people dead. It was the largest demonstration in French history.

The Saudi Arabian government has issued a series of 1,000 public lashings and 10 years in prison to an activist blogger Raif Badawi for insulting Islam. U.S. State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki requested an end to this punishment, but it does not look like Saudi authorities will end this brutality.

Having American troops occupy Iraq for 8 years, humiliating its citizens and torturing people in military prisons, was a bad idea. Did Bush and Cheney model for the Kouashi brothers how you take what you want and rub out people who get in your way?

Washington has invented a system so deeply entrenched in our world that changing it will surely prove a stunningly difficult task. Welcome to the new world of American insecurity.
