Part of the daily reality of poverty in America, evictions—along with mass incarceration—are the mechanisms used to destroy communities and profit from the misery of the poor.

It seems wrong in a society as wealthy as ours that a person working full-time can't get above the poverty line. You can't earn a living on the minimum wage.

If we continue to ignore the hunger, poverty and desperate families and communities of our young, we guarantee there will be a huge, violent population plagued by crime, drug addiction and high incarceration rates. If we save the children, we save society.

The homeless are feared by the upper classes, and they're often arrested for nonexistent or non-violent infractions, in good part because they are simply considered "offensive" to people of means.

Real terror, facing life without shelter and warmth and sustenance, without a semblance of security for even one day in the future, is terror caused in good part by the 16,000 people who don't feel it's necessary to pay for the benefits heaped upon them by a perversely unequal society.

Are we in an age of demagogues? The collapse of our political and cultural institutions has turned charlatans and thugs such as presidential hopeful Donald Trump into viable candidates.

While the Oxfam states “the economic, ethical and financial argument for change could not be stronger,” the U.K. needs more than a policy change to fix its "divisive materialistic values." The country needs more humane values that unites people and engenders trust.

If the Founding Fathers saw what the United States has become, they would be devastated. Poverty, income inequality, suppression of speaking ones mind, crime, war, and oligarch like behaviors all make up this new U.S. It is far from being the democracy it was created as.

Conditions in some countries are so abysmal, its residents are deciding to flee their homelands for the possibility of opportunity and freedom. Unfortunately, upon arrival to the U.S., a ‘migrant detention center’ awaits them with horrible treatment.

Maybe Republicans should start considering the undeniable fact that unemployment and poverty are a growing concern in America. Because every time a Republican becomes President, poverty and unemployment have increased.
