This mess that is an indication to the American people that they are so afraid of offending Trump and his supporters that they are, along with this president, unfit to carry out their governmental responsibilities.

Big banks are unpopular in both red and blue states; breaking them up could attract support across party lines and prove a winning electoral strategy.

For legitimate representative governance, each party needs to contain a strong core of elected women. The American government and governing system would be better with more women on each side of the aisle.

Republican members of Congress must join with Democrats to get this task done as quickly as possible.

These included everything from bans on the safest, most common form of second-trimester abortion to laws that would outright re-criminalize abortion.

"What if we instead added $5.7 billion in teacher pay? Or replacing water pipes? Or college tuition/prescription refill subsidies? Or green jobs?"

What’s truly amazing – until one habituates to the mammoth corruption of current U.S. politics – is how utterly unwilling today’s Democratic Party is to discuss issues that would paint Republicans in not merely in an unflattering, but in a criminally insane light.

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez celebrated the simple political concept that when you push for policies that are good for a majority of people, a majority of people like it.

The greatest obstacle to progress – an intact, corrupt Republican Party that escapes severe punishment – must be decimated. A criminal lame duck president is the ideal battering ram to produce a lame duck national party.

But the crassness of this Boehner cannabis pitch somehow symbolizes, to me anyway, how low too many of our craven, so-called public servants are willing to stoop for an almighty buck once they’re out of office.
