The announcement made by EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler on Tuesday comes at the same time there are currently 13,400 lawsuits against the controversial weedkiller.

This week’s closing arguments followed a recent favorable ruling for the plaintiff – this despite new revelations about Chhabria’s past ties to Monsanto.

Miami now joins Miami Beach and Stuart, two cities in Florida who have also banned glyphosate.

While Bayer continues to argue that there is no correlation between glyphosate and cancer, the second trial out of around 9,300 pending lawsuits will start in February.

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) announced Wednesday that tests it commissioned found glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto's Roundup weed killer, in nearly 30 General Mills and Quaker brand products made with conventionally-grown oats.
