Pity Pathetic, Lying Republicans

87

Can satire defy unhinged gangs
Who spew xenophobic harangues?
What prudence checks malignancy
Or offsets juvenile delinquency?
——————
Ponder well the rightwing plight,
Mouthy ghouls gushing fright:
Shock and awe to the faith-driven brain
Already idling on the lowest octane.
——————
While trumpery spreads vast manure,
Fanatics stay ideologically pure;
So thugs distort and counterfeit
Befuddling the addled and unfit.
——————
Those ‘crooks’ who mount climate hoaxes
Have nothing on GOP roaches;
“Tho rife with losers, we can be great:
Just batter barbarians at the gate.”
——————
Gov’mint must evil-doers invade,
Obscuring worst crimes that degrade.
“Elect Trump, and we’ll all be winners.
Endless wars against pagan sinners.”
——————
Shred taxes, not ruinous subsidy —
Crony, trickle-down chicanery;
Nothing horrifies like Obamacare,
Still dripping with power to scare.
——————
How best to filibuster history?
Defy mortifying facts as heresy.
Struck dumb with debate amnesia?
Eviscerate gotcha media.
——————
Assess the ferocious candidate
Desperate to own robes of state;
Who crawls from trenches with aplomb,
No fail for lying, just looking dumb.
——————-
Yes, we know it’s hard to be green
Or save campaigns from the obscene:
For any top dog to beat out crazy,
Ignite a greater blaze of sleazy.
—————
It ain’t easy being Donald Trump,
Defrauding dumb Tea Party rump.
Or politicians with real careers
Who lie outright, to universal cheers.
—————
The last-standing goon wins laurels
By outdoing the routine bamboozle;
Wing nuts who never master lying
Implode, exposed blitzkriegs dying.
—————
So measure your rage and angry fists
Against goofy contortionists;
Pity shameful, losing hypocrites
All but one chump must call it quits.

For over a decade, Robert S. Becker's independent, rebel-rousing essays on politics and culture analyze overall trends, history, implications, messaging and frameworks. He has been published widely, aside from Nation of Change and RSN, with extensive credits from OpEdNews (as senior editor), Alternet, Salon, Truthdig, Smirking Chimp, Dandelion Salad, Beyond Chron, and the SF Chronicle. Educated at Rutgers College, N.J. (B.A. English) and U.C. Berkeley (Ph.D. English), Becker left university teaching (Northwestern, then U. Chicago) for business, founding SOTA Industries, a top American high end audio company he ran from '80 to '92. From '92-02, he was an anti-gravel mining activist while doing marketing, business and writing consulting. Since then, he seeks out insight, even wit in the shadows, without ideology or righteousness across the current mayhem of American politics.
