Brazil had managed to reduce Amazon deforestation since the 2004 total of 27,772 square kilometers. This shows that it is possible, but it depends on political will and adequate management.

The findings, said one expert, “show that the uncertain future is happening now.”
“And you have an ecosystem like the Amazon biome that is so vulnerable to climate change and so biodiverse, the argument is there to just not be involved in oil and gas extraction in the region at all.”
Amazon has fought off labor organizing at the company for decades, but workers in Baltimore, New Orleans, Portland, Denver and Southern California are now also reportedly considering union drives.
“They are looking to maximize profit during a pandemic.”
Observers at VICE said the ads show the retail tech giant sees “labor organizing as one of the biggest threats to its existence.”
