The first-ever African-American women congressmembers from Connecticut and Massachusetts were sworn in, as was Colorado’s first-ever African-American member of Congress.

The “pay-go” rule is more proof that establishment Democrats would rather kneecap bold redistributive policies than embrace an emerging left-wing agenda.

Nothing good happens in Washington unless good people outside Washington are organized and mobilized to make it happen.

Big banks are unpopular in both red and blue states; breaking them up could attract support across party lines and prove a winning electoral strategy.

Blue states can take the lead on protecting water where it counts most: at the source. They can articulate an urgently needed national water vision.

For legitimate representative governance, each party needs to contain a strong core of elected women. The American government and governing system would be better with more women on each side of the aisle.

Republican members of Congress must join with Democrats to get this task done as quickly as possible.

"What if we instead added $5.7 billion in teacher pay? Or replacing water pipes? Or college tuition/prescription refill subsidies? Or green jobs?"
